This song sounds so much like Raj Kapoor’s signature songs of “Chhaliya”, “Shri 420”, “Aawaara” etc. But this song is not picturised on Raj Kapoor. and even the music is not by Shankar Jaikishan.
This song is from a movie called “Chhaila Babu” which was a movie which was produced in early 1960s but was released only in 1967. In this movie, this song “Raahi hoon albela” which is also the title song of this movie, is picturised on Rajendranath, who was the brother in law (saala) of Raj Kapoor.
This movie in fact was one of the first movies signed by Laxmikant Pyarelal as independent music directors. It is said that this movie was ready before “Parasmani” , but could not get released due to financial troubles of the producer and it was finally released many years later in 1967, by which time the movie had lost its relevance. As a result, “Parasmani” earned the distinction of becoming the first movie with Laxmikant Pyarelal’s music.
The music sounds so similar to Shankar Jaikishan’s music in this song, and that is understandable. the song itself was supposed to be like a Raj Kapoor movie song and therefore Laxmikant Pyarelal composed this song in Shankar Jaikishan style.

Ha ha! Saala=brother in law? Is it not also a bad name to call someone? Pardon my Hindi.

Your Hindi is perfect. Wife’s brother is called “saala”. Unfortunately “saala” is considered a bad word too, and that could be due to the feudal reason that wife’s family members were regarded as inferior in Indian thinking.

Indeed it sounds very much like a Shankar Jaikishen composition.
Btw, Atul, seeing Rajendranath here reminded me of a song “O paape na sharma” from Sagai. Lovely Rafi timepass song. Would it be possible to post this ?
