Kisi ko pataa na chale baat kaa

Producers on a shoestring budget tended to make Arabian nights kinds of movies in 1960s. These movies typically had lots of songs and dances. And being short of budget, these movies used to be partly in colour.
“Parasmani” , which was one such movie, became a big hit, thanks mainly to its music. “Lutera” (1965) looks very much like a movie of the same genre.
In this movie too, Laxmikant Pyarelal are the music directors. Anand Bakshi is the lyricist of this song and Lata has sung this song.
This song is picturised on Nishi. It is a typical villain’s den song that was standard in most movies of this genre.
The lilting music of this song, accompanied by Lata’s voice at its best means that this song can never fail to cheer up those who listen to it ( and watch it). so here is this wonderful song from “Lutera” (1965).

Song-Kisi ko pataa na chale baat kaa (Lutera) (1965) singer-Lata, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-Laxmikant Pyarelal
Lyrics
ye lab muskuraahat se anjaan the
judaayi mein ham to pareshaan the
Khudaa meharbaan thaa na insaan the
magar aaj kyaa zikr sadmaat kaa
ki hai aaj waadaa mulaaqaat kaa
kisi ko pataa na chale baat kaa
ki hai aaj waadaa mulaaqaat kaa
muhabbat aji yoon machalne lagi
muhabbat aji yoon machalne lagi
shamaa jaise mahfil mein jalne lagi
chhuri maan lo dil pe chalne lagi
koyi dil ki hasrat nikalne lagi
badalne lagaa rang haalaat kaa
ki hai aaj waadaa mulaaqaat kaa
kisi ko pataa na chale baat kaa
ki hai aaj waadaa mulaaqaat kaa
sajaao ye raahen bichhaao nigaahen
sajaao ye raahen bichhaao nigaahen
khabar unki aayi nazar muskaraayi
huaa hai ishaaraa milegaa sahaaraa
muhabbat ki pyaasi mitegi udaasi
muhabbat ki pyaasi mitegi udaasi
ki deedaar hogaa
ki deedaar hogaa abhi pyaar hogaa
banegaa fasaanaa kisii baat kaa
ki hai aaj waadaa mulaaqaat kaa
kisi ko pataa na chale baat kaa
ki hai aaj waadaa mulaaqaat kaa
buraa haal hai dil ke jazbaat kaa
ki hai aaj waadaa mulaaqaat kaa
kisi ko pataa na chale baat kaa
ki hai aaj waadaa mulaaqaat kaa

Sudhir ji,
Mukesh’s only film song for C. Ramchandra for “Shaarda” 1957 had the word “JAP” repeated 151 times.
I copied the lyrics on a word page and replaced all “jap” by some fictional word and was told by the dear computer that 151 replacements had been made. 🙂
At one go, I think it’s repeated 13 times, in 6 instances in the song.
Incidentally, this song post too was posted by your good-self.
Regards.

The film was a musical hit from MD Laxmikant Pyarelal. I want to put up one interesting information about this song. The word “Muhabbat” has been used 49 times in this song; and out of the above the same word was used continuously for 8 times on 6 occasions. Perhaps this is only song in the Hindi Film History in which one particular word is used so many times.

Dear Bimal ji,
Thanks for this information nugget, very interesting and amazing.
But this is not the song that you are talking about. The song is “Neend Nigaahon Ki Kho Jaait Hai”, from the same film. The write up for this song can be accessed at https://atulsongaday.me/2011/07/15/neend-nigaahon-ki-kho-jaati-hai/. In this song, the lines
muhabbat muhabbat muhabbat muhabbat
muhabbat muhabbat muhabbat muhabbat
are repeated six times.
