Hoon main ik nayaa taraana

A female dancer singing and dancing in a club, paying particular attention to the table where the hero is seated was a standard fare in Bollywood movies of 1950s. Geeta Bali, Geeta Dutt and Dev Anand often figured in such songs.
Here is one such song from a lesser known movie called “Faraar” (1955). The song, like the movie, was unknown to me till now. I loved this song the very first time I listened to it and watched it ( which was today). This song must have been quite a rage in its days I think. It is songs like this that were the fore runners of many such songs, viz “Mera Naam Chin Chin Chu” etc.
In this song, Geeta Bali is seen singing and dancing while paying particular attention to Dev Anand. Geeta Dutt is the singer. Prem Dhawan is the lyricist and Anil Biswas is the music director of this song.

This movie is listed as “Devanand in Goa” (aka Faraar) on IMDB.
After Jaal & Baazi, Devanand and Geeta bali pair must be very hot/popular with producers. And, they did 6-7 movies together but others failed to do magic on box-office.
Geeta Baali style of acting reminds me of Mumtaj. Spontaneous and charming in any role she portrayed on screen. And, no words to describe young Dev Anand.
