These days I am looking back into the past posts that I have posted over the last twenty odd months. While reading them up as well as reading the comments, I am getting information and ideas for “new” songs to post.
I have posted a song from “Sachchaayi” (1969) in the past on the farmaish of Raja. After I posted this song, Raja informed me about another nice song from this movie in his comment.
Reading up that comment again, I looked up that song. This song “sau baras ki zindagi se achche hain” is a song that is “new” for me. What a nice song it is though.
So here is this song from “Sachchaayi” (1969). It is sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle and it is picturised on Shammi Kapoor and Sadhana. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist and Shankar Jaikishan composed the music.
What a nice and philosophical song ! This is one of the few occasions where Shankar Jaikishan looked upto a lyricist other than Shailendra and Hasrat Jaipuri, and what a nice song Rajinder Krishan comes up with here.
It is also interesting to note that most of the people associated with this song were nearing the ends of their respective careers. Shammi Kapoor and Sadhana were very much into the fag ends of their respective careeres as leading actors. Unknown to them, Shankar Jaikishan pair too would get broken soon as Jaikishan would die soon thereafter. Rafi too was to receive a temporary setback (lasting a couple of years) as a playback singer due to the popularity of Kishore Kumar.
That way, this song certainly takes a philosophical look at life and advises us to take life as it comes.

This is one of the early movies that I remember seeing. And this one song from the movie stuck in my head. Nice song.
