I had heard this song a lot during its time. this song was a regular song in Sri Lanka Broadcasting Corporation’s “aaphi ke geet” programme broadcast in the morning from 8 AM to 9 AM. In addition, this song was a popular loudspeaker song as well.
Despite such popularity for this song, I was not aware about the details of this song till recently. It is only just now that I have come to know that this song is from “Prem Nagar” (1974). I am familiar with several songs of “Prem Nagar” (1974) and I have discussed them in this blog in the past, but I was not aware about this song being from this movie.
This song is a party song and it is picturised on rajesh Khanna and several ladies. Kishore Kumar is the singer. Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by S D Burman, but if someone asks me, the music bears the stamp of R D Burman. Many songs of S D Burman in 1970s may have actually been composed by R D Burman, and this song certainly appears to be one such song.

Oh yes very popular in 1974. I visited India then and every one was listening to it. Like you I only saw the song on youtube not too long ago. (But on second thought I’m wondering if I saw the movie–I was so young I remember only snippets of the movies.)
