There are several ways in which I come across musical gems. Arbitrarily clicking away at various youtube clips is one such way. But another, and far more effective way is to go through the farmaishes of readers on the farmaish page, and look for those songs. That is what I am consciously doing these days, and it has been a highly rewarding experience.
Look what a gem I have unearthed that way ! I have just come across this Talat Mehmood ghazal from “Raftaar” (1955) which I had never heard before. I have already listened this song some half a dozen times, and ye dil maange more.
Talat Mehmood and Nadira were the lead actors in this movie, so it follows that the song was picturised on Talat Mehmood himself.
Like all great songs, this song too owes its greatness to its awesome lyrics by Nakshab, who was also the director of this movie.
Music is composed by Shivram.
This song was a long pending farmaish by Sid.
