For music lovers of Hindi movie music, there is a vast repository of well known songs to chose from. And if one wants to go off the beaten track and savour songs that few people even know exist, then there is an equally vast repository of musical gems. In this blog, we keep discovering such unheard gems from times gone by, almost on a regular basis.
Here is just that kind of a song which I heard for the first time only just now.
This song is a duet from an extremely obscure movie called “Khaamosh sipaahi” (1950). The song is sung with gusto by Rafi and Geeta Dutt (then Roy). D N Madhok is the lyricist and Hansraj Bahl composed the music.
The words of the song are pphilosophical and right up my alley. The song basically states that life is there to be enjoyed and should better enjoy it today otherwise it will be too late tomorrow and they one may be left ruing the fact that one did not do in their youth what one needed to do to enjoy their lives. Very philosophical thooughts and very well expressed in very simple words.
