I haven’t seen the movie Dasvidaniya(2008), but what I have heard about it makes me want to see it. From what I have read of it, it is a story of a terminally-ill patient, who after receiving the news of the terminal nature of his illness, decides to live his life fully and to achieve ten important things in his life.
This song is one of his first achievements: singing a song on a guitar. His widowed mother is deaf and he wants to sing this to her. But only after he has sung the major part of the song that he realises that she couldn’t hear anything, since her hearing-aid doesn’t have fully-charged batteries. Now, that sounds improbable, since any sensible person would complain right away. Furthermore, when he asks how the song was it seems she can miraculously hear again and thus can complain about the empty batteries. Nevertheless this is a very beautiful song sung by Kailash Kher, a singer with a huge range and classical timbre.
Ava, a regular of this blog, is not only a fantastic mother to her daughter and son but she also finds time to be active in many more fields. For instance, she manage two blogs. In one of them she airs her views on Hindi films and its music and she dedicates the other one to discuss literature . She also regularly contributes to this blog. Even after doing so many things, she still finds time to look after her facebook friends and others.
Today (the 7th of October) is the birthday of Ava. This song is for Ava on this occasion. Happy Birthday, Ava!

What a coinidence ! I listened to this lovely song on YT only about couple of hours back while searching for a similar worded song from a film of 40s. I got that song and which I will send the link with lyrics to Atul.

The song is ‘maa pyaari maa god mein teri khela bachpan meraa’ from AAINAA (1944). The song is now posted on the blog today.
