Raaten pyaar ki beet jaayengi
Posted on: November 18, 2012
Alif Laila” (1953) was a K Amarnath Productions movie. It was produced and directed by K Amarnath. The movie had Pran, Nimmi, Murad, Asha Mathur, Vijay Kumar, Gope, Maya Devi etc in it.
As many as six songs from this movie have been discussed in the past. Here is the seventh song from the movie. It is sung by Asha Bhonsle and chorus. Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist. Music is composed by Shyam Sundar.
The song is picturised on a lead dancer and others. Who is the lead dancer ? When I look at the starcast, I find the names of Nimmi, Asha Mathur and Maya Devi who fit the bill. It can not be Nimmi (we know why) 🙂 and it could not be Maya Devi (I suppose she must be a senior actor). So it is most likely Asha Mathur who lip syncs in Asha Bonsle’s voice in the song. I request our knowledgeable readers to confirm/ refute my identification.
PS-Bluefire mentions that it is a very young (and uncredited) Helen who lip syns this song. That makes it one of the earliest “Helen” songs in the blog.
Lyrics of this song were sent to me by Nitin Shah.
Song-Raaten pyaar ki beet jaayengi (Alif Laila)(1953) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Shyam Sundar
Chorus
Lyrics(Provided by Nitin Shah)
raaten pyaar ki beet jaayengi
ye bahaaren phir na aayengi
phir na aayengi
lalala ala ho
lalala ala ho
lalala ala ho
raaten pyaar ki beet jaayengi
ye bahaaren phir na aayengi
phir na aayengi
dil ka daaman bhar ke dekh le
yeh gunaah bhi kar ke dekh le
kar ke dekh le
dil ka daaman bhar ke dekh le
yeh gunaah bhi kar ke dekh le
rut umang bhari
din suhaane
dhal na jaaye kahin yeh zamaane
yeh zamaane
raaten pyar ki beet jaayengi
ye bahaaren phir na aayengi
phir na aayengi
lalala ala ho
lalala ala ho
lalala ala ho
raaten pyar ki
kal jo ho so ho
abb to jhoom le
baadalon mein chal
taare choom le
taare choom le
kal jo ho so ho
abb to jhoom le
baadalon mein chal
taare choom le
rut umang bhari
din suhaane
kho na jaaye kahin yeh zamaane
yeh zamaane
raaten pyaar ki beet jaayengi
ye bahaaren phir na aayengi
phir na aayengi
lalala ala ho
lalala ala ho
lalala ala ho
raaten pyaar ki beet jaayengi
ye bahaaren phir na aayengi
phir na aayengi

Asha Mathur plays Laila, while Nimmi plays the invisible Geanie.
The dancer here is a very very young Helen, who isnt credited in the movie. Look closely.

Secondly,As per HFGK,my info is correct.
The song ‘bebasi yeh mera…’ was posted on 18-7-2010 and there is no song as ‘aana hi padega’ in this film.May be this is some antara of some other song of this film. Please check.

All songs for this movies are written by Sahir Ludhianvi. Kindly correct the tag for ‘lyricist’s name’ as Sahir Ludhianvi. Also correct the lyricist name in the write-up and below the YT link.

Atul ji,
Now only the following song remains-
“Dilon ke shikar ko….”-Asha.
According to MD Shyamsunder’s wife,Shyamsunder died while this film was still incomplete. However,Madan Mohan completed the balance music work. There is no info about which songs are whose,as Madanmohan refused to take any credit for his work.
