Nainon se nain milaa ke : Song No. 3
—————————————–
Third song in the series is also from the 40’s. This is a solo by Geeta Dutt from the film ‘Hamaari Manzil” (1949). This movie is a treasure of wonderful songs. I have sent the lyrics of a few songs from this film, which are in the process of being posted.
The lyricist of some of the songs is not clear as myswar.com has given two names in the credits i..e. Rajendra Krishan and Qamar Jalaalabadi. Husnlal Bhagatram have composed the music. The cast includes Prem Adeeb and Nirupa Roy. Only audio links of songs are available on youtube, so there is no way of knowing on whom these songs are picturized.
This is a happy sounding song sung be Geeta Roy/Dutt.
My son has just now told me of a prank they played on their friends, when he and a friend were on a school trip to another school, to take part in a competition. Since the trip was to the other side of the city, they were away for the whole day. So they were allowed to bring mobile phones so parents can keep in touch or keep track of them. How were parents sending their children away on school activities, before cell phones ? God only knows.
Anyway, coming back to the prank,
the kids called their other school friends at home and asked them :
tere ghar mein fridge hai ?
Friend : Haan hai na
kids : Chalta hai ?
Friend : haan chalta hai.
kids : arey usko pakad ke rakho, nahin to bhaag jaayega
This is similar to a joke from long ago. Which goes :
There is an absent minded professor. One day his wife tells him,
Wife : Aap ko pataa hai, munna chalne lagaa hai.
Professor : achha, kab se ?
Wife : teen din ho gaye
Professor : ussey roko, ab tak to kaafi door nikal gayaa hogaa.
Let me end with one such innocuous joke about a film song.
The film is Guide (1965). The song ‘Gaata rahe mera dil ”
Question : Why Waheeda Rehman is wearing only that pink saree through out the song ?
Answer : Because in the second stanza Dev Anand tells her “Badle duniya saree, tum na badalna” .
Song-Nainon se nain mila ke (Hamaari Manzil)(1949) Singer-Geeta Dutt, Lyrics-Rajendra Krishan/Qamar Jalaalaabadi, MD-Husnlal Bhagatram
Lyrics
Nainon se nain milaa ke
jiyaa tadpaa gaye ho
jiya tadpaa gaye ye
dheere dheere muskuraa ke
apnaa banaa gaye ae
apnaa banaa gaye
nainon se nain milaa ke
jiyaa tadpaa gaye ho
jiya tadpaa gaye ye
dheere dheere muskuraa ke
apnaa banaa gaye ae
apnaa banaa gaye
jaane kahaan se aaye
dil ko churaane waale
raah jaate jaate yoonhi
pyaar jataane waale
jaane kahaan se aaye
dil ko churaane waale
raah jaate jaate yunhi
pyaar jataane waale
pyaar jataa ke mujhe
apnaa banaa gaye ae
apnaa banaa gaye
nainon se nain milaa ke
jiyaa tadpaa gaye ho
jiya tadpaa gaye ye
dheere dheere muskuraa ke
apnaa banaa gaye ae
apnaa banaa gaye
dekhaa mujhe pyaar se main
sapnon mein kho gayee
wo mere hon ya na hon
unnki main ho gayee
dekhaa mujhe pyaar se main
sapnon mein kho gayee
wo mere hon ya na hon
unnki main ho gayee
chori chori aa ke meri
duniyaa basaa gaye ae
duniyaa basaa gaye
nainon se nain milaa ke
jiyaa tadpaa gaye ho
jiya tadpaa gaye ye
dheere dheere muskuraa ke
apnaa banaa gaye ae
apnaa banaa gaye
nainon se nain milaa ke
jiyaa tadpaa gaye ho
jiya tadpaa gaye ye
dheere dheere muskuraa ke
apnaa banaa gaye
apnaa banaa gaye

The jokes, though old, have been nicely utilized.
