I was searching for this song for long, as it was the only Noorjehan song from the 1946 ‘Dil’ that I had not in my ‘khajana’. I shouted on internet, hoping some music lover will come forward to help me. And pronto….. Our own Atul-ji, not only sent me the song, but also sent me the YouTube link where he had uploaded it. Soon, another Noorjehan fan and that too our own Vidur-ji sent me the MP3 song. So here I am with that song.
There is one more song on Internet ‘Nadiya ka baheta paani’, as a duet of Noorjehan with Zubaida khatoon, but listening to it, it is Zubaida Khatoon and some other voice which is definitely NOT Noorjehan’s. So, the sum total is, that with this song, ALL Noorjehan songs of ‘Dil’ will be covered on our blog.
Writing in my own way, I forgot to mention the song, for which so much intro is done. The song is ‘Shor Na Karna gulshan Mein’. The song is mainly sung by ‘Moti’ and poor Noorjehan gets one ending stanza to sing. No wonder she was sleeping all the while, when poor Moti was requesting the bumble-bee not to make noise, which may wake up her. She was pleased on waking up by his ‘pyar bhare’ words and not by the noise created by the bumble-bee. But then she insisted on her rights, and had her LAST words and with that ended the song. Since my only guide HFGK, does not throw any light about who was the lyricist of the song, it may be anybody from the three lyricists who wrote lyrics for that film.
This song will remind old timers, of a non-film song ‘Dheere se jaana bagiyan mein’ by Sachin Devbarman. Even the tune is also very similar and obviously inspired by the same original tune. Should I also mention that there was another ‘parody song’ made much later as ‘Dheere se jaana khtiyan men khatmal…’ ?

Atul ji and Sudhir ji,
This song seems to have been reused in the film ‘Raasta’ (1947). Both ‘Dil’ (1946) and ‘Raasta’ (1947) were produced by Fazli Brothers. Zafar Khursheed was the MD for both the films. Lyricsts for both the films were common.
If the song has been resued in ‘Raasta’ (1947), one can say that Noor Jahan became a playback singer for this song as she did not act in ‘Raasta’ (1947).
Similar is the case with another song from ‘Dil’ (1946) – likhi nasseb main hai thokeren zamaane ki’ sung by Moti B.A. which seems to have been reused in ‘Raasta’ (1947).
