# R.D. Burman’s Remembrance Anniversary #

Today 4th January 2025 is the 31th Remembrance Anniversary of the great music-director Rahul Dev Burman. We are paying our tributes to him by covering some of his compositions . So far, three songs composed by Pancham have been discussed on the blog today. In this post I am once again presenting a lesser heard song from the decade of seventies. It is from the movie ‘Shaitaan-1974’.
This movie was directed by Feroze Chinoy for A.G. Films Pvt Ltd. It was produced by A.A. Nadiadwala. The cast of this movie has Shatrughan Sinha, Sharmila Tagore (in special appearance), Anil Dhawan, Padma Khanna, Nivedita, Sapru, Sulochana, Master Titoo, with Kirti, Rajkumar, Surendra, Suraj, Ved, Ekram, Shyam, Sharma, Hashmat, and Ramsingh and others. Aruna Irani, Alka, Kumud Chugani, Indrani Mukherjee and Jagdeep were the guest artistes in this movie. Story of this movie was written by K.A. Narayan, and screenplay and dialogues of this movie was written by Kaushal Bharati. Editing of this movie was done by Babubhai Thakkar.
“Shaitaan-1974” has four songs penned by Majrooh Sultanpuri which were composed by R.D. Burman. Playback singers for this movie are Lata Mangeshkar, Asha Bhonsle and R.D. Burman.
One song of ‘Shaitaan-1974’ have been posted on the blog in the past which was presented by our Respected Raja Saab on a special occasion.
Today I am presenting the second song from this movie which is in the voice of Lata Mangeshkar. I was looking for a Lata song and I think this lesser heard song fits the bill on this occasion. I have not watched this movie yet so I cannot say much about it and moreover it seems to be a ‘suspense thriller’ so we are not supposed to disclose anything.😊 Only audio of the song is available. I could not find the video of this song. Though this movie is available online, but the songs in that video are muted for reasons unknown (to us) or may be because of some legal issue.
I guess that this song is lip-synced by Sharmila Tagore and that Shatrughan Sinha is also present in the picturisation. Let us now listen to this song written by Majrooh Sultanpuri and composed by R.D. Burman.
