Blog Day : |
6300 | Post No. : | 19500 |
The previous post published earlier today was post number 19499. Eagle eyed regulars may have also noticed that today was 6300th day for the blog. So, going by past experience, they must be expecting the blog century post today.
They are not wrong, of course. When I noticed that we were approaching 6300th day for the blog, I decided to coincide that with blog century post. That meant I had to slow down from the usual rate of posts (3 to 4 posts a day) for a couple of days.
It is not the first time when blog century post has appeared on such a round hundred day for the blog. 18700th post had appeared on on 6000th day. Earlier 16900th post had appeared on 5000th day of the blog.
Interestingly 12800th post had appeared on 3099th day. It is clear that those day we were not keeping track of blog days otherwise we would have taken care to coincide the two events.
The blog started as a one man show on 19 July 2008. So it is natural that all posts those days were by me. With time, the concept of guest poster got introduced. These guest posters have so far contributed as many as 7223 posts in the blog which is 37% of all posts in the blog.
The blog so far has had 194 century posts. Guest posters too started to write century post in the blog from post number 2600 when Raja, the first guest poster in the blog posted the first century post by a guest poster. The song was O meri praan sajni Champaawati aajaa from “Annadaata”(1972).
The next guest poster to contribute a century post was Greta (Memsaab) who discussed the rollicking Rafi song (picturised on Shammi Kapoor ) Jaan Pehchaan Ho” from “Gumnaam(1965) as the post number 2800.
Next century post number 2900 was “Kya hua tera vaada” from “Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin”(1977). It was discussed by Santosh Ojha. Next century post was 3000th post for the blog which doubled as 1000th post of Lata Mangeshkar as well. It was discussed by Raja. Subsequently, Raja would also cover thousandth post of Rafi (blog post 4000) as well as <a href="“>Kishore Kumar’s thousandth post (blog post number 12700).
Sudhir jee was the fourth guest poster to become a blog century poster with post number 3900. He would soon go on to become a major pillar of the blog making immense contributions in various capacities. He has so far contributed as many as 59 century posts.
Overall 9 guest posters have contributed 87 blog century posts out of 194 blog century posts. So the guest posters have contributed 45% of the blog century posts so far. In other words, the blog has by now become an online collaboration of likeminded music lovers.
These century posts have covered a variety of songs. These century writeups have enriched the blog immensely. Each and every century writeup is a gem to be savoured. While going through the past century posts, I got so engrossed that the century post number 19500 got delayed.
Several of our blog century posts have been made to coincide with individual centuries of artists. In case of some prolific artists, such occasions have arisen several times. For example, cenmturies (and even thousandth songs) of Lata Mangeshkar, Rafi and Asha Bhonsle have often been covered as blog century posts.
The century post under discussion does the same thing. This blog century happens to be song post number 3400 of Rafi saab as well. I wanted this to coincide with Anand Bakshi’s century as well but he has gone past his latest century and he is at 1310 at present. Nevertheless the song that I have chosen is one that is sung by Rafi and penned by Anand Bakshi. So this post honours both of them in this blog century post.
Rafi and Anand Bakshi collaboraation began with “Hum Bhi Kuchh Kam Nahin”(1958). But all the Rafi songs from this movie have been covered in the blog. The second movie where Rafi and Anand Bakshi came together was “Laal Nishaan”(1959).
“Laal Nishaan”(1959) had six rare songs in it. Two of them have been covered in the past. One of these songs had the voice of Rafi in it. There are two more Rafi songs in the movie that are yet to be covered.
Here is the third song from “Laal Nishaan”(1959) to appear in the blog. This song is a Rafi solo. Anand Bakshi is the lyricist. Music is composed by S D Batish, who composed music for this movie under the name of Nirmal Kumar.
Only audio of this fun song is available. For the sounds of it, one can guess that the song was picturised on Bhagwan. How I would love to watch the video of this song.
I request our knowledgeable readers to throw light on the song as well as on the movie.
With this song, the blog reaches post post number 19500. The 20000 mark is just five hundred songs away. At the present rate of 100 plus songs per month, we should reach that mark by february or march of 2026.
Rafi saab reached 3400 mark. He needs a bout six or senen more centuries before we are able to cover almost all Rafi songs that are available.
I take this opportunity to thank one and all for their continuous support and encouragement. Here is hoping that the blog, whose strike rate has improved off late, will continue to chug along merrily and arrive at many new destinations and landmarks in the days to come.
Song-Teree nazar kee chaabhee ne khola mere dil ka taala (Laal Nishaan)(1959) Singer-Rafi, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-Nirmal Kumar
Lyrics
uh
Teree nazar kee chaabhee ne
khola mere dil ka taala
o zaalim
haay maar daala
jaan o jigar ka purza purza
ho gaya dhheela dhhaala
o zaalim
haay maar daala
main bhee hoon shikaaree puraana
par tera hai khoob nishaana
teekee nazron ka ik teer khaaa ke
maine ustaad hai tujh ko maanaa
zulfon ka phanda yoon daala
ke zaalim
haay maar daala
tod ke mere dil kee tijoree
toone kar lee mohabbat kee choree
de gayee baaton baaton mein jhaansaa
badee niklee tu chaalaak chhoree
yaaaron ka nikla deewaalaa
ke zaalim
haay maar daala
Teree nazar kee chaabhee ne
khola mere dil ka taala
o zaalim
haay maar daala
teree aankhon se lapka jo sholaa
seene mein phat gaya dil ka gola
aag bujh na sakee mere pyaaar kee
maine ashqon ka nalka bhee khola
ho kar daalaa gadbad ghotaala
ke zaalim
haay maar daala
Teree nazar kee chaabhee ne
khola mere dil ka taala
o zaalim
haay maar daala
