————————————————

This song is from the movie ‘26th January’ alias ‘Bharati’, which was released in the year 1956. This movie was passed by the Censor Board on 14.08.1956. It was directed by Ramesh Sehgal. The cast of this movie had Nalini Jaywant, Ajeet, Johny Walker, Sapru, B.M. Vyas, Leela Mishra, Cuckoo, Balraj Mehta, Chaman Puri, Nishi (who made her debut with this movie) and others.

‘26th January’ has seven songs which were all written by Rajinder Krishan and composed by C. Ramchandra. The playback singers for this movie were Lata Mangeshkar, Manna Dey, and Asha Bhonsle. So far, four songs from this movie have been covered on the blog. While presenting a song from this movie our beloved Arunkumar jee had given the following information about this movie and its story:-

The film was made by Sehgal Productions. The director was Ramesh Sehgal and the Music was composed by C. Ramchandra for the 7 songs written by Rajendra Krishna. 3 songs are already on this Blog. The story of the film was framed on India’s life story, symbolically. The film’s name was also 26th January aka Bharati. The effort was very childish, in my opinion. Here is the story….

In a far off country a beautiful girl – Bharati – was living. She was so beautiful that thousands of people wanted her love. She, however, loved a young handsome man – Jana. Dhani was another person who loved Bharati and hated Jana. With help from some foreigners, Dhani kidnapped Bharati. Instead of giving her to Dhani, the kidnappers kept her with them.
The queen of the foreigners made Bharati dance for her. When Jana tried to rescue Bharati, he was captured. The queen fell in his love, but he neglected her. Enraged, the queen jailed Bharati and Jana was thrown into the sea, but he was saved by fishermen. He was again caught and thrown to hungry lions. Here he was saved by a Rishi. The rishi motivated the citizens to rise against the queen and rescue Bharati and Jana. They did so, but one of the citizens killed Rishi.

Dhani again tried to kidnap Bharati. This time the people and Jana killed Dhani and rescued Bharati. Finally Bharati and Jana united.

Today I am presenting the fifth song from this movie which is in the voice of Lata Mangeshkar. This is a very nice composition and listening to it made my day today. I am surprised that such a nice composition was not yet covered till now.

Let us now listen to this song …

Song-Chala hai pyaar ka raahee o nadiya raasta dena (26th January)(1956) Singer-Lata Mangeshkar, Lyricist-Rajinder Krishan, MD-C Ramchandra

Lyrics

o o o
tere saathh saathh
meree duniyaa bhee jaa rahee hai
ae ae ae
din chhup rahaa hai
gham kee
ab shaam
aa rahee hai

chalaa hai pyaar kaa raahee
o nadiyaa raastaa denaa
o nadiyaa raastaa denaa
kisee tootey huyee dil kee
aree lehron duaa lenaa
aree lehron duaa lenaa

bigad jaayegaa kyaa teraa
arey toofaan
zaraa thham jaa
musaafir paar utar jaaye
arey paanee zaraa jam jaa
bigad jaayegaa kyaa teraa
arey toofaan
zaraa thham jaa
musaafir paar utar jaaye
arey paanee zaraa jam jaa
kaheen meree muhabbat ko
na duniyaa se uthhaa lenaa
na duniyaa se uthhaa lenaa
chalaa hai pyaar kaa raahee
o nadiyaa raastaa denaa
o nadiyaa raastaa denaa

kisee kee zindagee se khel kar
ae maut kyaa legee
bataa kyaa chaar din ke pyaar ko
fursat naheen degee
lahoo kee pyaas
meree jaan le kar
tu bujhaa lenaa
o nadiyaa raastaa denaa
chalaa hai pyaar kaa raahee
o nadiyaa raastaa denaa
o nadiyaa raastaa denaa
