‘Coffee House-1957’ was directed by Hari Walia for ‘Neeti Art Productions, Bombay’. Hari Walia was also the producer of this movie. The cast of this movie had Geeta Bali, Shammi Kapoor, Vijaylakshmi, Chanchal, Jeevan, Kumud Tripathi, Pal Sharma, Rajan Kapoor, Bhagwan, Helen, and others. This movie was passed by the Censor Board on 26.03.1957.
‘Coffee House-1957’ has eight songs. Six songs were written by Prem Dhawan and one song each was written by Shailendra and Hasrat Jaipuri. Music for this movie was composed by Roshan. It has been mentioned in a previous post on the blog that the prints of this movie were lost, and hence there is very less information available about this movie and its songs. obviously no videos of this movie are available.
The singers for this movie are Asha Bhonsle, Geeta Dutt and Suman Kalyanpur which means all the songs in this movie were sung by female singers. One of these songs also has chorus. Asha Bhonsle’s voice appeared in four songs in this movie. Geeta Dutt had three solo songs and the one remaining song had the voice of Suman Kalyanpur.
So far, four songs from this movie have been posted on the blog earlier. Incidentally the lyricist for all the four songs presented earlier on this blog is Prem Dhawan. Secondly all the three songs sung by Geeta Dutt have been covered on the blog, and the one song sung by Suman Kalyanpur has also been posted earlier. Today we are going to listen to the fifth song from this movie. This is the first song sung by Asha Bhonsle from this movie to be presented here. Shailendra is the lyricist. This is the only song penned by Shailendra for this movie.
