Khayaalon mein kisi ke is tarah
Posted on: November 16, 2008
It is a very sweet song to listen to. Almost everyone associated in this song ( except the lyricist) was a newcomer to Bollywood industry and was trying to find his/ her feet. But their collaboration created this masterpiece that is remembered fondly to this day.
In fact, this movie “Baawre Nain” was full of memorable songs. The music director was Roshan, whose first movie as a music director (Neki aur Badi) had flopped the previous year. So it was a do or die situation for Roshan. But such was the quality of his music that this movie established him as a music director of note.
This song is sung by Geeta Dutt ( then she was Geeta Roy) and Mukesh, both newcomers as playback singers. The voice of Geeta Dutt sounds so refreshing and different from what we are used to. Mukesh, just breaking out of K L Sahgal’s influence ( though some traces are still there) sounds as melodious as he would sound throughout his career.
And what about the picturisation. Kidar Sharma, who was the producer of this movie too ( in addition to writing the lyris of this move) had cast a newcomer called Raj Kapoor as the hero. This song was picturised so wonderfully on the hero and heroine. The expressions of the lady in this song are especially charming to watch.
The star cast of this movie shows Geeta Bali as the leading lady. But the lady in this song does not look like Geeta Bali. So I assume that she is Vijay Laxmi, the side heroine in this movie. Any corrections/ informations will be gratefully acknowledged.
Today was the day when Roshan, after lighting up Bollywood music world for 18 years, died in 1967, when he was barely 50 years of age. He died on 19 november 1967, but his music is truly immortal. This song is this blog’s tribute to Roshan’s genius.

Song- Khayaalon mein kisi ke is tarah (Baawre Nain) (1950) Singer-Geeta Dutt, Mukesh, Lyrics-Kidar Sharma, MD-Roshan
Lyrics
khayaalon mein kisi ke, is tarah aayaa nahin karte
kisi ko bewafaa aa aa ke tadpaayaa nahin karte
khayaalon mein kisi ke, is tarah aayaa nahin karte
kisi ko bewafaa aa aa ke tadpaayaa nahin karte
dilon ko raund kar dil apnaa bahlaayaa nahin karte
jo thukraaye gaye hon unko thukraayaa nahin karte
dilon ko raund kar
hansi phoolon ki do din chaandni bhi chaar din ki hai
chaandni chaar din ki hai
hansi phoolon ki do din chaandni bhi chaar din ki hai
chaandni chaar din ki hai
mili ho chaand si soorat to itraayaa nahin karte
kisi ko bewafaa aa aa ke tadpaayaa nahin karte
khayaalon me kisi ke
kisi ko bewafaa aa aa ke tadpaayaa nahin karte
khayaalon me kisi ke
muhabbat kaa sabak seekho, ye jaakar jalnewaalon se
ye jaakar jalnewaalon se
muhabbat kaa sabak seekho, ye jaakar jalnewaalon se
ye jaakar jalnewaalon se
ke dil ki baat bhi lab tak kabhi laayaa nahin karte
jo thukraaye gaye hon unko thukraayaa nahin karte
khayaalon mein kisi ke, is tarah aayaa nahin karte

Very sweet song.
Like you say, this movie had a lot of good songs.
I remember in particular “teri duniya mein dil lagta nahin”.
Lovely song, very good lyrics, especially second stanza.
Mukesh-Roshan combination at play here.
