“Lage Raho Munna Bhai” is one new movie that I regard as one boasting one of the most original story line imaginable. And it is a very well made movie as well.
Songs do not play very big role in the success of this movie. But the few songs that are there create just the right ambience and they do not look out of place.
The song under discussion “Bole to bole to kaisi hogi haay.. lage raho Munna Bhai” is a very cute and lovable song, which looks so much like an integral part of the movie. The lyrics by Swanand Kirkire suit the lingo of Munna Bhai.The music is also suitably tapori like. In fact , this song is a tapori song.
Picturised on Munna Bhai ( Sanjay Dutt) and circuit (Arshad Warsi) among others, this song can even be described as a feel good song. The song is very nice to listen to. The song has no pretentions or aspirations of being a great memorable song, but it serves its purpose, that of forming a part of the story line, very well.
It is a lovable tapory song, which is a fun song to listen to and watch.
PS- I had just watched a 1960 song “sheesha ho ya dil ho” and I realised that the song, which I thought to be a serious song, was actually a fun song. I was wondering how Haasrat Jaipuri, who used words like “sheesha e dil” in that fun song would have written this lyrics. Potentiols are endless, but I suspect that words like “Shaahe khubaan” and “chashme baddoor” could well have appeared in the lyrics had Hasrat saab been entrusted with writing this fun song. 😉

I agree, it is a feel good song. By the way, do check out other compositions by Shantanu Moitra. He does supposedly plagiarise, but they still sound good. A case in point is another song from Lage Raho .. Pal Pal Pal Har Pal … it is a straight copy from a 1961 song by Cliff Richard – Theme for a Dream. I like the Lage Raho version better. The other movie is Parineeta, which has some really nice numbers, do listen to them, I am sure you will like it.
