Rangat teri soorat si
Posted on: February 22, 2009
Here is a Rafi-Shammi song from “Tumse Accha Kaun hai”. This song is a duet also containing the voice of Suman KalyanpurLata. Hasrat Jaipuri is the lyricist whereas Shankar Jaikishan were the music directors of this movie.
The music is nice and the picturisation may have been nice by 1969 standards, but 40 years later, it is difficult to enjoy this song as a romantic song, considering that Babita later married Randhir Kapoor and that way she became daughter in law of Shammi Kapoor, with which she is shown singing a romantic song here.
This is one big reason why I find it difficult for myself to enjoy picturisation of the songs of this movie. Of course one cannot fault the music. It is as good as any Rafi-Hasrat-SJ-Shammi composition.
Song-rangat teri soorat si (Tumse accha kaun hai) (1969) Singers-Rafi, Lata, Lyrics-Hasrat Jaipuri, MD-Shankar Jaikishan
Lyrics
Rangat teri soorat si kisi me nahin nahin
khushboo tere badan si kisi me nahin nahin
Rangat teri soorat si kisi me nahin nahin
khushboo tere badan si kisi me nahin nahin
Rangat teri soorat si kisi me nahin nahin
dekha tha jo bahaar ka sapna tu hi to hai
jiska tha intezaar wo apna tu hi to hai
jiska tha intezaar wo apna tu hi to hai
hardam ye sharaarat si kisi me nahin nahin
khushboo tere badan si kisi me nahin nahin
Rangat teri soorat si kisi me nahin nahin
yoon to haseen lakh hain duniya ki raah me
aata nahin hai koi bhi meri nigaah me
aata nahin hai koi bhi meri nigaah me
tujhme hai jo agan si kisi me nahin nahin
khushboo tere badan si kisi me nahin nahin
Rangat teri soorat si kisi me nahin nahin
tere haseen khayaal nigaahon me chaa gaye
duniya ko chhod kar tere pahloo me aa gaye
duniya ko chhod kar tere pahloo me aa gaye
hamdam ye mohabbat si kisi me nahin nahin
khushboo tere badan si kisi me nahin nahin
Rangat teri soorat si kisi me nahin nahin
khushboo tere badan si kisi me nahin nahin
Rangat teri soorat si kisi me nahin nahin

Yes, now that you mention it, the voice does sound like Lata’s.
