Chhod bedardi aanchal

Here is another song which I heard a lot in my young days, and liked it, before this song got forgotten.
I stumbled upon this song again yesterday and this song brought back those old memories. What a song ! Rafi sings this song with gusto, like his songs for Shammi Kapoor. It is just that here he sings for Rajesh Khanna. And what about Lata ? She sings with gusto too, like she was singing for a female equivalent of Shammi Kapoor. And I must say that the actress playing the female equivalent of Shammi Kapoor does a better job of dancing than Rajesh Khanna. I have in fact always felt that this `movie “The Train” could well have been made with Shammi Kapoor in mind. I do not think Rajesh Khanna was made to dance so much in any other of his movies.
It is indeed a very nice song to listen to.

Lyrics
mujhse bhala ye kajal tera

chhod bedardi aanchjal mera

naam ki tu hai meri sajaniya
naam ka main hoon tera piyaa
reshmi lat se khele ye gazra
door se tarse meraa jiya
na na
ha ha

tauba kaisi
naam hai premi paagal tera
to sang laage nain
ni soniye
prem gali me hoga na balma
tujhsa deewaana aur koyi
chain udaana neend churaana
seekhe ye tujhse chor koyi
na na
ha ha

aap hoon main to ghaayal tera
tadpoon saari rain

chaahe pawan ho chaahe kiran ho
choone na doonga tera badan
ho jalta hai man to
man me chupaake rakhle mujhe tu mere sajan
na na
haha

kya hai raja
aaa
roop barasta baadal tera
pyaase mere nain
ni soniye
ni soniye
aaa
chhod bedardi aanchal mera
ho gayi main bechain
wai soneya
wai soneya

Great songs in this film which was quite entertaining and of course a huge hit. Kaka’s and Nanda’s jodi did pretty well in all the three films they worked in–Ittefaq, this and Joroo Ka Ghulam though the last was not as big a hit as this one; Ittefaq, of course, is one of those all time classics of Hindi cinema, both Kaka and Nanda were superb. They share great chemistry. Totally agree on your comments about the choreography. Poor Kaka could never dance and in this style especially as well as in Gulabi aankhen, he looks ……;-)

I have always loved this song, but I didn’t know it had Rajesh Khanna and Nanda in it. I have a question – why is it that in so many scenes where the hero is wearing a suit and tie and shoes, the poor heroine ends up wearing a village outfit and is barefooted, even if they are frolicking in the snow!
