I had mentioned that “Bin Baadal Barsaat” (1963) had three outstanding sensuous songs sung by Hemant Kumar.
Here is the second such song. Just listen to this song. Hemant Kumar must have been in the zone while recording the songs for this movie. These songs are just out of this world. What a voice and what music ( he himself was the music ditrector). And what about the lyrics? It is the words of Shakeel Badayuni that enable Hemant Kumar to create this sheer magic.
All this while I have not talked about the picturisation. The song is picturised on Vishwajeet and Asha Parekh. I feel that in some way, Hemant Kumar singing for Vishwajeet was akin to Rafi singing for Shammi Kapoor. In either case, the musiclovers were left ewith a good collection of songs of different genres.
jab jaag uthhen armaan to kaise neend aaye
jab jaag uthhen armaan to kaise neend aaye
ho ghar mein haseen mehmaan to kaise neend aaye
neend aaye
jab jaag uthhen aramaan to kaise neend aaye
ye raat ye dil ki dhadkan ye badhti huyi betaabi
ek jaam ke khaatir jaise, bechain ho koyi sharaabi
ye raat ye dil ki dhadkan ye badhti huyi betaabi
ek jaam ke khaatir jaise, bechain ho koyi sharaabi
sholon mein ghiri ho jaan to kaise neend aaye
jab jaag uthhen armaan to kaise neend aaye
tham tham ke nayi umeeden kyun khel rahin hain dil se
jis tarah tadap kar maujen takraayen kisi saahil se
tham tham ke nayi umeeden kyun khel rahin hain dil se
jis tarah tadap kar maujen takraayen kisi saahil se
seene me ho ek toofaan to kaise neend aaye
jab jaag uthhen armaan to kaise neend aaye
nazdeek bahot hai manzil phir bhi hain ghazab ki doori
aye dil ye too hi batalaa de, ye kaun see hain majboori
nazdeek bahot hai manzil phir bhi hain ghazab ki doori
aye dil ye too hi batalaa de, ye kaun see hai majboori
jab soch mein ho insaan to kaise neend aaye
ho ghar mein haseen mehmaan to kaise neend aaye
neend aaye
jab jaag uthhen armaan to kaise neend aaye
Fabulous blog. Today’s song is one of my favorite Hemant Kumar numbers. If memory serves me right, the other two songs are “Zindagi kitni khoobsurat hai” and “Ek baar zara phir keh do”!
Welcome to this blog, Cram. Yes, you are right about the other two Hemant Kumar songs from this movie. I had posted “zindagi kitni khoobsoorat hai” yesterday and I will post the third song tomorrow.
Atulji ,you have rightly rightly used the phrase ” out of the world ” for the song .
The picturization of the song is also superb . Bishwajeet and Asha Parekh both look very young , perfectly matched for the song . Asha Parekh’s eyes expression , when she looks at the photo of Bishwajeet , vindicates her acting capabilities . Kudos to Ashaji . May she live long in better health !
