Poochhe jo koi mujhse

In Bollywood movies, hero is often seen teasing the girl and get away with it. It does not happen that way in real life. In reality, there are laws which prohibit “eve” teasing as it is called in India.
In this song, Rajendra Kumar is seen teasing Sadhana and getting away with it. The song itself is interesting in the sense that Sadhana here is seen wearing a skirt and driving a scooter, and both of them were not all that common for a girl to do in India at that time.
If I remember correctly, girls found it difficult to drive cars and scooters for the resaon that the only kind of car in those days was Ambassador ( mark I) which was not a car in which a girl could hope to learn driving. Similarly, the scooter that was available was called Vespa and it had its engine on one side and that made it heavy on one side and handling it was a tall order for “nazuk” girls. Later Vespa tied up with Bajaj and continued to manufacture the same kind of scooters which were difficult to handle for girls.
And of course, I have not yet talked about the difficulty of kick starting a scooter. Kicking desperately and the scooter refusing to start is not a funny sight and that is also what discouraged most girls from taking to driving a scooter.
Coming to the song itself, it is nice to find a “jeep” cum “scooter” song. Rajendra Kumar drives a jeep in this song and Sadhana drives a vespa scooter ( as I can observe). It was only twenty years later than women friendly two wheels (Kinetic Honda, Scooty etc) became available and womenfolk in India became mobile on the road. Yes, women in India have come a long way since this song. And it is nice to see that Sadhana shows the way to the “naaris” of Indian in 1971 itself.
