Ye duniya waale poochhenge

Umbrella is typically used in Bollywood movies to protect actors from rain, and sometimes sun. Hero and heroine sharing an umbrella and getting drenched makes for some of the most romantic scenes in Bollywood movies. Of course, it is much more romantic if they dispense with umbrella and decide to get drenched in rain.
In this song, there is neither rain not sun, but umbrellas are still used, and they are used as a prop. In absence of a better classification, I have decided to call this song an “umbrella” song.
This song is from a 1969 movie called “Mahal”. In an era where Rajesh Khanna and Mumtaz had no use for umbrellas in rainy season, we find Dev Anand, Asha Parekh and others using umbrellas for no apparent reason.
Here is this song that goes “ye duniyaa waale poochhenge” from “Mahal” (1969). It is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Kishore Kumar. Anand Bakshi is the lyricist and Kalyanji Anandji are the music directors.
