Chal chal chal mere saathi

“Haathi Mere Saathi” (1971) was a delight for kids when this movie was first released. It had everything that one needed. It had Rajesh Khanna, and it had elephants doing wonderful stuffs. What more does a kid and those young at heart want ?
Here is the theme/ title song of this movie which was a big rage during its time. The car of Tanuja has stopped and it needs to be pushed. Now more heroes would do the pushing themselves, but not our Rajesh Khanna. He has lots of help in the form of several elephants. Now whatever the horse power of Tanuja’s convertible, rajesh Khanna has sufficient elephant power available. So while the hero does the singing, his truste elephants do the pushing job. In fact they go one better. One elephant brings a rope and starts towing the car from the front, while other elephants push it from the rear.
As the song ends, the car relents and gets started . Why I am not surprised ?
This song is sung by Kishore Kumar. Anand Bakshi was the lyricist and Laxmikant Pyarelal composed the music.

It was indeed a national anthem of sorts for kids of 1970s, the way “nanna munna raahi hoon” was the natioanl anthem for kids of 1960s, and “aao bacchon tumhe dikhaayen” was for kids of 1950s.
There are still so many songs that are not yet posted.

what is this atul? you have posted the world famous song of our growing up years so late in your blog. i thought for our generation that was a national anthem. hehehehe!
