This song from “Chandni Chowk” (1954) plays while the movie opens and the opening credits roll on the screen.
This song is a nostalgic song. It bemoans the fact that the streets of Delhi were no longer the same. This song has the ability to make oldtimers of Delhi, who were born many decades ago in Chandni Chowk feel nostalgic about that place. They would agree that the streets of Delhi were no longer the same. Apparently, same was felt in 1954 itself when the lyricists ( Majrooh Sultanpuri/ Saifuddin Saif) wrote this poetry.
Rafi sang this song as only he can. Roshan was the music director.
