Rasta dekhen tera vyaakul man meraa..aaja re nindiyaa

While posting lullaby songs, once I had commented that these lullabies are mostly sung by female singers and lullabies sung by male singers are very rare.
Here is a rare lullaby song, in the sense that it is sung by a male singer.
This song is from “Hamshakal” (1974) which had Rajesh Khanna in the lead and some superb songs, still this movie managed to end up as a forgotten movie. I have already posted a superb song from this movie (Kaahe ko bulaaya mujhe baalmaa pyaar ke naam se) and here is another superb song.
This song, a lori , is sung by Kishore Kumar. It is picturised on Rajesh Khanna and a kid to whom Rajesh Khanna sings this lullaby. Mausami Chatterji is also visible in the picturisation.
Anand Bakshi wrote this song and R D Burman was the music director.

Song-Rasta dekhe tera vyaakul man mera… aaja re nindiyaa(Hamshakal ) (1974) Singer-Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Anand Bakshi, MD-R D Burman
Lyrics
rasta dekhe tera
vyaakul man meraa
ye chhote chhote nainaa ye lambi kaali rainaa
aaja re nindiyaa
rasta dekhen tera vyaakul man meraa
ye chhote chhote nainaa ye lambi kaali rainaa
aaja re nindiyaa rastaa dekhen teraa
deep me baati jalne lagi hai dheere dheere
mast hawa bhi chalne lagi hai dheere dheere
tu chori chori chupke se maathe se lagaake
sapno ki nindiyaa
aaja re nindiyaa rastaa dekhen teraa
vyaakul man meraa
ye chhote chhote naina ye lambi lambi rainaa
aaja re nindiyaa rastaa dekhen teraa
mahlon me bhi tu jaati hai haule haule
galiyon me bhi tu aati hai haule haule
aa ghar me ham gareebon ke maathe pe sajaake
sapnon ki nindiya
aaj re nindiyaa rastaa dekhen tera
vyaakul man meraa
ye chhote chhote naina ye lambe kaale rainaaa
aaja re nindiyaa rastaa dekhen teraa

[…] Movie may have flopped, but the music was not, considering that I remembered this song , as well as other songs from this movie. Yes, this movie had other great songs too, and I have in fact posted two other great songs from this movie already, viz. Kaahe ko bulaaya mujhe baalmaa pyaar ke naam se (Hamshakal) and Rasta dekhe tera vyaakul (Hamshakal) […]

Lovely number. A musical tour de force unfortunately for a lousy film 😦 As you say often Atul, if a film fails at the box office, its songs are soon forgotten which was the case here too. Which is why your blog’s such a delight. For your painstaking efforts in digging up these lost gems and putting them before the world at large, thanks very much once again from grateful readers/listeners 🙂
