Ye waada karo baag mein na aaya karoge

on:This is a wonderful song to listen to. and curiously, I first listened to this song only recently, even though the song is from a movie called “Sab Ka Saathi” that was released in 1972 !
Few people know about this movie. Vinod Khanna, who was playing villain till the previous year ( in “Mera Gaon Mera Desh”) gets reformed and plays hero in this movie. Since he is the hero, so unlike villains, he gets to romance and here he romances Bharati.
What an amazing romantic song ! As I mentioned, I failed to hear this song when it was first released in 1972, but better late than never. It is a song sung by Kishore Kumar and he could do no wrong those days. His voice amply testifies why he had become the number 1 male playback singer in Bollywood at that time. The song just mesmerises the listeners. I am saying so after I first heard this song in 2009 !
Finding this song was difficult. Finding the details about this song is even more so. But now I know that this song was written by Rajinder Krishan and music was by Kalyanji Anandji.
Rajinder Krishan is one lyricist that I admire a great deal. and it is very informative to realise that Rajinder Krishan wrote about 150 songs for Kishore Kumar ! And that he wrote some 500 + songs for Lata !
Kalyanji Anandji are of course one the most prolific music directors of all time, even though thy are a bit overshadowed by the other leading music directors of thse days.
And this song is the 1500th song of this blog. I think that this song represents the philosophy of this song very well. I love to post great songs from the past which are not all that well known today. And this song fits the bill perfectly.
And I take this opportunity to thank all my readers, visitors and well wishers whose encouragement keeps me going at a steady rate.
1500 songs in less than a year ! Even I could not have believed it, but that is a fact. And I hope that I will be able to post many more great songs in this blog. I have realised this that 1500 is just a drop in the ocean, and there are thousands of great song that I have yet to cover.
Once again, I thanks you all. And enjoy this great rare song from “Sab Ka Saathi” (1972).
Song-Ye waada karo baagh mein na aaya karoge (Sab ka saathi) (1972) Singer-Kishore Kumar, Lyrics-Rajinder Krishan, MD-Kalyanji Anandji
Lyrics
Ye waada karo baagh mein na aaya karoge
Ye waada karo baagh mein na aaya karoge
ye kaliyaan sharmaatin hain
bahaarein jal jaatin hain
yoon bahaaron ka
bahaaron ka dil na jalaaya karoge
ye waada karo baagh mein na aaya karoge
ye waada karo baagh mein na aaya karoge
do ghadi baagh mein aapka aana
aake phoolon ki rangat udaa jaana
ho do ghadi baagh me aapka aana
aake phoolon ki rangat udaa jaana
zulf lahra jaati hai
ghata si chaa jaati hai
qayaamat aa jaati hai
yoon qayaamat kabhi na uthaaya karoge
ye waada karo baagh mein na aaya karoge
ye waada karo baagh mein na aaya karoge
koyi naghma jo bhoole se chhedaa yahaan
jaayenge bulbulon ke taraane kahaan
ho koyi naghma jo bhoole se chhedaa yahaan
jaayenge bulbulon ke taraane kahaan
chalo yoon haule haule
tarana paayal bole
chaman ka dil na dole
yoon chaman pe naa bizli giraya karoge
ye waada karo baagh mein na aaya karoge
ye waada karo baagh mein na aaya karoge
ye kaliyaan sharmaatin hain
bahaarein jal jaatin hain
yoon bahaaron ka
bahaaron ka dil na jalaaya karoge
ye waada karo baagh mein na aaya karoge
ye waada karo baagh mein na aaya karoge

The music directors are kalyanji-anandji and not laxmikant-pyarelal. This movie also starred sanjay khan and raakhee.

Wow !!!
1500….fantastic !
Congratulations, Atul. I still remember the time, not so long ago, when you started blogging. And this blog came much later actually.
As you know, I am a regular here – I visit here practically everyday. And have enjoyed visiting – and listening/watching these songs. Some bring back memories, some are new to me and I enjoy listening to them for the first time (like this one).
Just fantastic – and great that you picked a song like this for the 1500th. Have never heard it before, never heard of the movie either. Just enjoyed listening to / watching it.
Keep going, Atul !!! I am sure many others enjoy this site too (as is evidenced by an increasing number of comments/visitors). And there are of course many more lovely songs out there.
