In late 1950s, party songs based on western music and accompanied by a dance by a female had become a rage in Bollywood movies. “Mera Naam chin Chin Choo” from “Howrah Bridge” (1958) is a good example of such a song. This song was sung by Geeta Dutt and it was picturised on Helen.
Here is another song from the same genre. The movie is “Do Ustaad” (1959). O P Nayyar and Qamar Jalalabadi, who were the music director and lyricist respectively, of the “Howrah Bridge” song were there in this song too. But this time the song was sung by Asha Bhonsle. And the song was picturised on Madhubala !
The song is not as well known as “Mera naam Chin Chin Chhu”, but this song (its audio as well as is picturisation ) is nice and this song is a must listen and must watch song in my opinion.
Song-Aaya tumpe dil aaya (Do Ustaad) (1959) Singer-Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Qamar Jalalabadi, MD-O P Nayyar
Lyrics
aaya
tumpe dil aaya
kyaa karoon
aaya
tumpe dil aaya
kyaa karoon
aaya
tumpe dil aaya
mere naina teekhe teekhe
babuji
sau sau jaadu seekhe
babuji
madbhari ye nazar
jaam mein ghol kar
piyejaa
piyejaa
piyejaa piyejaa piyejaa
aaya
tumpe dil aaya
kyaa karoon
aaya
tumpe dil aaya
mere husn ke sab deewaane
Mr John
Ik shama ke sau parwaane
Baba Khan
aap hai saare gun
aap hain aflaatoon
aap ki moonch hoon haan
reech ki poonchh hoon haan
lijiye
main chali
athari atharri ka jaa
aayaa
tum pe dil aaya
kyaa karen
aayaa
tum pe dil aaya
kyaa karen
aayaa
tum pe dil aaya

Typical Asha Bhosle peppy number. Loved it. Thank you Atul Ji!
