In west , Valentine day is the day earmarked for love. In India, on the other hand, an entire season, viz the rainy season is earmarked for love.
And that affords plenty of opportunity for Bollywood movie makers to slip in a love song or two.
Songs, where a girl feels lovelorn in the rainy season, even though she has no definite lover of her own, is a uniquely Indian (and Bollywood) trait. The girl hopes that a lover of her specifications will land up on her doorsteps without trying. All that she has to do is to sing a song.
Here is a song where a girl sings a song of love with great vigour and energy. I must say that I have not heard such an energetic love song for a long time.
This song is from an obscure movie called “Deep Jalte Rahe” (1959). Asha Bhonsle has sung this song with gusto. Shailendra has written this song and Roshan has composed the music.
The actress on whom this song is picturised dances with great enthusiasm. I am not aware who she is. Going by the cast of the movie, it has to be either Manju or Ranjana. Any ideas who she is ?
