Ho jabse mili tose ankhiyaan

I stumbled upon this superb song just now. This song is from a forgotten movie called “Amaanat” (1955) which had Bharat Bhooshan and Chaand Usmaani in lead roles. This song is a duet sung by Geeta Dutt and Hemant Kumar. And what a wonderful song this is. Listening to this song just once is enough to make one like this song.
This song is based on the folk music of Assam, and Salil Chaudhary has composed it nicely. Shailendra is the lyricist. This song is not picturised on the lead actors. Rather it is picturised on two lesser actors. The lady sings from the bank of the river, whereas the man sings from the centre of the river while immersed waist deep there.
