Here is a beautiful song from “Pardesi” (1957) which is quite well known, though people may not be aware about the details of the song.
For instance, few people may know that this song is sung by Meena Kapoor. It is written by Prem Dhawan and music director is Meena Kapoor’s husband, viz Anil Biswas.
This song is picturised on Nargis.

Another beautiful song based on classical raaga in this movie is ‘ Na ja na ja balam’ sung by Lata and picturised on Padmini. Video link is available on YT. The movie was in B&W but I was surprised to find a video of this song in colour that too crystal clear.

perfect treat for a travellers paradise -the last indian movie to be nominated ever for palm dor in cannes -an indo soviet co production about the adventures of a real life russian who hailed from 16 th century -journey across the three seas is the english title -anil biswas and meena k.-some more under rated wonderful musicians ,again by K A ABBAS the master maker ,

In most of the sites, songs of Pardesi are given jointly in the names of Prem Dhawan and Ali Sardar jafri.Similar is the case of Footpath and Dharti ke Lal and a lot of films. May I know how did you saperate the two names and determine that the lyric was indeed written by Prem Dhawan. I cannot question the inference as I too guess the same, but it was a guess after all.

Once , while searching some song ( video song , I don’t remember which ) , I happened to download ‘ Rasiya Re Man Basiya Re ‘ . Nargis is seen in a rural ambience . The cottage where she was seen had a charpai with utensils strewn here and there . A Sohrab Modi look like person was leaving the village . Later I found that the actor was Russian .Also Pardesi 1957 was an Indo Russian venture .

गीतकार प्रेम धवन के लिखे, संगीतकार अनिल बिस्वास की बनाई धुनों में सजे, अभिनेत्री नरगिस पर फिल्माए गए और भूली – बिसरी गायिका मीना कपूर जी द्वारा गाए हुए इस विरह गीत में इतनी प्यारी बांसुरी बजाने वाले कौन हो सकते हैं ?
हालांकि फिल्म के प्रारंभिक कलाकारों की जानकारी / सूचनाओं आदि में / अन्यंत्र कहीं जिक्र पढ़ने नहीं मिला है ।
फिर भी बहुत अधिक संभावना है कि इस स्वर्णिम, अविस्मरणीय गीत में बांसुरी उस जमाने के प्रसिद्ध बांसुरी वादक पन्नालाल घोष जी ने बजाई हो ।🤔
उस दौर के प्रसिद्ध बांसुरी वादक पन्नालाल घोष भारत – रूस के अतीत सम्बंधों पर आधारित इस मील की पत्थर फिल्म के संगीतकार अनिल बिस्वास के गहरे दोस्त थे !
और हाँ यह तो बताना मैं भूल ही गया कि दोस्ती से पहले मात्र 13 बरस की उमर में पन्नालाल घोष की शादी संगीतकार अनिल बिस्वास की मात्र 9 वर्षीय छोटी बहन पारुल घोष (नी बिस्वास) से हुई थी। ( उन दिनों तब बाल विवाह का चलन भी ज्यादा था । )
