Bahut haseen hain tumhaari aankhen

“Aadhi Raat ke baad” (1965) was a B grade movie which had Shailesh Kumar (who ?) as the hero, and dancer Ragini as the heroine.
But as I am fond of saying repeatedly, there was nothing B grade about the music of B grade movies those days because even those music directors and lyricists who worked in such movies were as talented as their counterparts working in the A grade movies.
This song is a duet sung by Rafi and Suman Kalyanpur. It is a romantic song, which is picturised in a car, in a boat, near a waterfall, etc. Prem Dhawan is the lyricist and Chitragupta is the music director. As noted above, all these names were outstanding in their fields, and the result is a very nice song, so what if this song is not well known. This song is a sweet song to listen to.

Song-Bahut haseen hain tumhaari aankhen (Aadhi Raat Ke Baad) (1965) Singers-Rafi, Suman Kalyanpur, Lyrics-Prem Dhawan, MD-Chitragupta
Lyrics
bahut haseen hain tumhaari aankhen kaho to main inse pyaar kar loon
badaa hai dhokhaa teri nazar mein main kis tarah aitbaar kar loon
bahut haseen hain tumhaari aankhen kaho to main inse pyaar kar loon
ye bheeni bheeni hawaa ki khushboo mahak hai tere hi tan badan ki
ye bheeni bheeni hawaa ki khushboo mahak hai tere hi tan badan ki
sambhal ke bolo chatak naa jaaye koyi naweli kali chaman ki
meri kali tum
meri kali tum agar kaho to main zindagi se bahaar kar loon
badaa hai dhokhaa teri nazar mein main kis tarah aitbaar kar loon
hazaar baaten hain aisi dil mein jo ruk gayin hain zabaan pe aake
hazaar baaten hain aisi dil mein jo ruk gayin hain zabaan pe aake
jo baat lab pe machal rahi hai wo aaj kah doon nazar milaa ke
kisi ki hoke
kisi ki hoke ye chain kho ke main dil ko kyun beqaraar kar loon
bahut haseen hain tumhaari aankhen kaho to main inse pyaar kar loon
gino naa ab dhadkanen hamaari naa aur lo imtehaan hamaaraa
gino naa ab dhadkanen hamaari naa aur lo imtehaan hamaaraa
ise naa samjho tum aajmaayish yahi to ulfat kaa hai ishaaraa
agar ye sach hai
agar ye sach hai to marte dam tak main aapkaa intzaar kar loon
badaa hai dhokhaa teri nazar mein main kis tarah aitbaar kar loon
bahut haseen hain tumhaari aankhen kaho to main inse pyaar kar loon

This is a well-known song and I like it a lot.
Sailesh Kumar played Meena Kumari’s brother in Kajal (1965) – if you watch the video of “mere bhaiya mere chanda” you see him.
He has got Hollywood looks about him – a cross between Dean Martin and Rock Hudson. 🙂
