I have posted a couple of songs from “Kinaare Kinaare” (1963). The movie was a sad melancholic movie and its songs matched the mood of the movie.
The songs were nice to listen to. One thing noticeable in these songs is the lyrics. The lyricist is a person called Nyay Sharma. He had an ability of express complex feelings of a melancholic person well. It is just that he chose to use difficult heavy duty Urdu words to express these feelings. From a Urdu scholarly point of view, these lyrics are very good to listen to. Even a layman who cannot understand many of these words can enjoy the songs, because much of the enjoyment in appreciating Urdu shaayari comes when one goes “waah waah” without understanding it, just because everyone else is going “waah waah”.
This song, in comparison to some other songs in this movie is relatively easy to understand, though.This song is sung by Rafi and it is picturised on Chetan Anand. Jaidev is the music director.

The lyricist Nyay Sharma has come up with a deep meaning song here. It is unfortunate that he did not get more opportunities to show his worth.

Nyay Sharma was the producer of this film. The film bombed at the box office despite having good lyrics and lovely songs. Probably, audience did not accept Dev Anand-Meena Kumari pair.

Never heard this song before. Lyrics are mind boggling. I need more time to understand this song. But love it……..This is waht RafiSahab’s variation is in all the songs…….Thanks a lot Atul.
