I have watched many old actors only in black and white movies. So it was quite a pleasant suprise to see Ameeta, one of the more lovable leading ladies of 1950s and 1960s in colour, and that too in a B grade movie.
Yes, this movie “Samson” (1964) was a B grade movie. It had Feroz Khan, then a newcomer as the hero acting opposite Ameeta and an equally young Mumtaz.
Here is a song from this movie which is sung by Asha Bhonsle and picturised on a stunning looking Ameeta and Feroz Khan. The picturisation also shows Mumtaz anxiously awaiting the return of Feroz Khan.
Majrooh Sultanpuri is the lyricist and Chitragupta composed the music.
The end of the music is what I call a typically Indian end. As soon as the song ends, and the lovey dovey couple are still feeling in cloud nine, and suddenly Ameeta takes a look and her expression of bliss gives way to shock. I am sure it must either be the villain or the “heroine ka baap”, who must have observed them.
