Dareeche shaq dareeche shaq
Posted on: January 11, 2010
I had never heard about this movie called “Ek Thi Reeta” (1971). This obscure movie had Vinod Mehra and Tanuja in lead roles.
Here is the audio of a song from this movie. It is sung by Rafi and Asha Bhonsle. Prem Jallandhari is the lyricist and Jaidev composed the music.
I became aware of this song thanks to the farmaish of this song. The words of this song are quite unfamiliar to me. I have no idea what dareeche shaq means, for instance.
Song-Dareeche shaq dereeche shaq (Ek Thi Reeta) (1971) Singers-Rafi, Asha Bhonsle, Lyrics-Prem Jallandhari, MD-Jaidev
Lyrics
jo mere pyaar par ho shaq
to kar lo saaf dil beshaq
tumhin se pyaar karte hain,
dareech-e-shaq dareen-e-shaq
dareech-e-shak dareen-e-shaq
kisi ko ho bhalaa kyun shaq
yaqeen kar le wo ab beshak
ke ham bhi pyaar karte hain
dareech-e-shaq dareech-e-shaq
dareech-e-shaq dareech-e-shaq
kuchh to duniyaa mein aap the tanhaa
aur kuchh hamen aap ki zaroorat thi
kuchh to duniyaa mein aap the tanhaa
aur kuchh hamen aap ki zaroorat thi
bas yoon hi mil gaye doraahe par
hai yahi daastaan mohabbat ki
agar ho phir bhi tumko shaq
to le lo imtihaan beshaq
tumhi se pyaar karte hain
dareech-e-shaq dareech-e-shaq
dareech-e-shaq dareech-e-shaq
pyaar ki baat kaa bharosaa kyaa
mard ki zaat kaa bharosaa kyaa
pyaar ki baat kaa bharosaa kyaa
mard ki zaat kaa bharosaa kyaa
aaj waadon pe aitbaar to hai
kal ke haalaat kaa bharosaa kyaa
nahin ab tak hamen kuchh shaq
bharosaa keejiye beshaq
ke ham to pyaar karate hain
dareech-e-shaq dareech-e-shaq
dareech-e-shaq dareech-e-shaq
jo mere pyaar par ho shaq
to kar lo saaf dil beshaq
tumhin se pyaar karte hain,
dareech-e-shak dareen-e-shaq
dareech-e-shaq dareech-e-shaq
dareech-e-shaq dareech-e-shaq
dareech-e-shaq dareech-e-shaq
dareech-e-shaq dareech-e-shaq
dareech-e-shaq dareech-e-shaq

Yes…….Mr. Raja is right. The word “Dareenche shaq” (and not “Dareeche
shaq” which may mean ‘window of doubt’ ) definitely means ‘Beyond doubt’.

Thanks for posting this farmaish of mine, Atul.
Heard this song again now – and it is quite a pleasant song. Rafi-Asha songs are usually reasonably lively anyway.
To be honest, I am not entirely sure about the meaning of “Dareeche-shaq” (though I have heard the term before). I think it could mean “without doubt”. Maybe somebody else can clarify what this means.
