This is one song that must be as rare a song as they come. Listen to this song and try to judge the people involved in the creation of the song. It is easy to notice that the song is picturised on Dhumal and Tuntun who emerge out of the church after getting married and then immediately burst into this comic song. The song is sung by Rafi and Geeta Dutt.
What about the lyricist and the music director ? The song is written in a Bambaiyya language and is full of Hinglish words, which were common in day to day lingo but which were then considered infradig in Bollywood movies. Believe it or not,this song is written by Majrooh Sultanpuri, of all people.
Those were the days when life was simple and political correctness had yet to enter our lives. By present day standards, the words of this lyrics could well be construed as objectionable by some thin skinned people. But the song is great fun nevertheless.
As for the music, the music is rock and roll and the dance in western with Goan touch. I thought that the first song with Goan inflence was in “Bobby” (1973), but I can see that this song and this music director beat Laxmikant Pyarelal by 15 years in making use of Goan folk dance and music.
This movie is called “Ek Sholaa” (1958) and the music director is- believe it or not -Madan Mohan !
So here is this fun song created by some unlikely people.
While listening to this song, I cannot but help feel that Geeta Dutt has totally stolen the show here with her bindaas and mast singing.
PS- The song has some Goan words too, and I am as coversant with Goan words as Raj Kapoor/Dev Anand/Raj Kumar etc are with dancing. So I request my readers knowledgeable with the language to tell me what these words are, so that I may be able to incorporate those words too in the lyrics.

Sounds also a little like “Sar jo tera chakraye” from Pyaasa. You know till I looked it up, I used to think that Johnny Walker was Goan.
