Karte hain ishaare falak se chaand taare

Posted on: May 20, 2010

“Raag Rang” (1952) is a movie that was a home production of Geeta Bali. This movie had Geeta Bali and her sister Sudha Bali acting in it and their brother Digvijay Bali was the producer. Ashok Kumar was the hero of the movie.

There may not be too many people who may have listened to the music of this movie, but people who have listened to the music of this movie are known to opine that this music was perhaps the best that Roshan composed in his career as a music director.

Here is a duet from this movie. It is sung by Trilok Kapoor and Lata. Kaifi Irfani is the lyricist.

Incidentally, this singer Trilok Kapoor is different from actor Trilok Kapoor who was also active in Bollywood movies those days.

Song-Karte hain ishaare falak se chaand taare (Raag Rang) (1952) Singers-Trilok Kapoor, Lata, Lyrics-Kaifi Irfani, MD-Roshan

Lyrics

o o o
karte hain ishaare,
falak se chaand taare
o dilrubaa tu gaaye jaa
o o o
pyaar kaa ye nazaara,
badaa hai pyaaraa pyaaraa
nazar se dil mein aaye jaa

nazar se dil mein kaise aayen,
aap hi dil mein aake bataayen
nazar se dil mein kaise aayen,
aap hi dil mein aake bataayen
chhodo ye bahaanaa,
aisi baaten na banaanaa
main hoon shamaa,
tu hai parwaanaa
pyaar kaa ye taraanaaa
rubaab se sunaaye jaa
o o o
karte hain ishaare,
falak se chaand taare
o dilrubaa tu gaaye jaa
o o o
pyaar kaa ye nazaara,
badaa hai pyaaraa pyaaraa
nazar se dil mein aaye jaa

lab par aaye mast taraane,
chhalke taaron ke paimaane
lab par aaye mast taraane,
chhalke taaron ke paimaane
tri: raat nasheeli,
dekho chaand hai nasheelaaa
mere saathi,
qadam hain dagmagaaye
hain mastiyon mein aaye
ye roop tu dikhaaye jaa
o o o
pyaar kaa ye nazaara,
badaa hai pyaaraa pyaaraa
nazar se dil mein aaye jaa

The opening strains of this early Roshan offering probably impressed Shanker-Jaikishen enough to “use” it the very next year for the Talat solo Andhe Jahan Ke Andhe Raaste….
