I have mentioned this fact time and again that old Bollywood movies could be categorised as A grade, B grade etc based on its budget, but one could not categorise the music of these Bollywood movies likewise. The musical talent available to the B ,C and lower grade movies was just as great as those available to the A grade movies.
Here is a song from a distinctly lower grade movie. I am not aware of the actors of this movie, and in fact even the names who created the songs of this movie are lesser known/ unknown names.
Here is a dance song where two female dancers sing and dance. This kind of dance songs where two female dancers would be singing to amuse the king/ Badshah/ Crime lord etc was quite a popular form of song picturisation in Bollywood movies those days. These dances would often be performed by well known dancers, but the dancers here are totally unknown to me.
The song is sung by Geeta Dutt.Hairat Sitapuri is the lyricist and Robin Bannerji is the music director. The movie is called “Vazeer e Azam” (1961).
