Raat aur din diyaa jale

Here is a very well known title song from a reasonably well known movie. The movie is “Raat Aur Din” (1967) and the song is “Raat aur din diyaa jale”.
This movie had Nargis and Pradeep Kumar in lead roles. Nargis in fact had already quit movies and this movie was one of the few sporadic appearances that she was making in movies of 1960s. Pradeep Kumar, a leading hero in 1950s too was on the verge of losing his herogiri status.
This title song has female version (sung by Lata and picturised on Nargis) and a male version (sung by Mukesh and picturised on Pradeep Kumar). The lyrics of both the versions are identical.
Shailendra is tjhe lyricist and Shankar Jaikishan composed the music.

The lyricist for this is Hasrat Jaipuri and not Shailendra…please correct

I see conflicting references for the lyricist on this song… Here Shailendra Ji is listed but Hasrat Jaipuri is also listed in some other places… so, I am wondering who really wrote this beautiful poetry?
