Tumhaare hain tumse dayaa maangte hain

“Boot Polish” (1953) was a movie based on the plights of orphan. Considering the subject, this movie was bound to have melodrama is it and that is why I am not sure that I would like to watch this movie.
The songs of this movie too have some sad pathos filled songs in it.
Here is a song from this movie that I heard for the first time only today. I became aware of this song thanks to its farmaish by Sophy.
The picturisation of this song shows a few kids, inmates of an orphanage singing and begging. In other words, the orphans are being made to beg in public. Now, I dislike using orphan kids that way, and it turns out that one of the kids, Ratan Kumar too does not like it one bit, and by the time the song ends, he walked away in a huff, determined that orphan he may be, but a beggar he would not be.
This is a sad and poignant song, sung by Rafi, Asha Bhonsle and chorus. The song is picturised on several kids including Ratan Kumar and Baby Naaz. Any idea who is thye grown up who lip syns in Rafi’s voice ?
As mentioned above, I listened to this song for the first time only today. It is a nice song, but the picturisation of this song and the subject of this song (orphans must condsider themselves at the mercy of the society and beg from them) are not to my liking. I do not like depiction of orphans like this. Perhaps it was the need of the story, but still I do not agree with the need of the story.

Lyrics
tumhaare hain tumse dayaa maangte hain
tumhaare hain tumse dayaa maangte hain
tere laadlon ki duaa maangte hain
tere laadlon ki duaa maangte hain
yateemon ki duniyaa mein hardam andheraa
yateemon ki duniyaa mein hardam andheraa
idhar bhool kar bhi na aayaa saweraa
idhar bhool kar bhi na aayaa saweraa
isi shaam ko ek pal bhar jale jo
isi shaam ko ek pal bhar jale jo
ham aashaa kaa aisaa diyaa maangte hain
tere laadlon ki duaa maangte hain
thhe ham jinki aankhon ke chanchal sitaaren
thhe ham jinki aankhon ke chanchal sitaaren
hamen chhod wo is jahaan se sidhaare
hamen chhod wo is jahaan se sidhaare
kisiki na ho jaisi qismat hai apni
kisiki na ho jaisi qismat hai apni
dukhi dil sabhi ka bhala maangte hain
tere laadlon ki duaa maangte hain
bachaa ho jo roti ka tukdaa dilaa do
bachaa ho jo roti ka tukdaa dilaa do
jo utraa ho tan se wo kapda dilaa do
jo utraa ho tan se wo kapda dilaa do
tumhaare hain tumse dayaa maangte hain
tere laadlon ki duaa maangte hain

as I have said before I saw this movie 3x and cried on each occasion. Really a sad movie and truly reflected life in India during the early 60’s.Baby Naaz is just super. Although she never quite made it as a grown up actor she participated in the cinema actively, judging movies at the Cannes festival, e.g. She acted in several movies. She had a great voice; sadly she died of throat cancer in 1995 aged 53.

The grown up who lip syncs in Rafi’s voice is master Nisar.
By the way, Boot Polish won the Filmfare award in 1955 for the best film.

Thanks Atul. The tune is very interesting — monotonous and pied -piperish. As for not liking the situation, maybe it helps that I don’t fully follow the lyrics. Now that you have written it out, I can see what they are saying.
I like the songs in this movie a lot.
