Atul’s Song A Day- A choice collection of Hindi Film & Non-Film Songs

Dil de de dil le le

Posted on: September 16, 2010

We all love Johny walker songs and we all love Helen songs as well. How about a song that has both of them ! Here is one such song.

This song is from “Jaal” (1967) which is a lesser known movie, vis a vis the much better known “Jaal” (1952).

In this movie, Johny Walker and Helen are romantically involved. It is so nice to see that Helen for a change is shown to have a personal life too, instead of just being reduced to one dance per movie routine that was her fate in most other movies.

This song is a duet where Johny Walker (singing in Rafi’s voice) and Helen (singing in Asha Bhonsle’s voice) has a mild lover’s tiff.

It is a beautiful and lesser known song from a lesser known movie. Anand Bakshi is the lyricist and Laxmikant Pyarelal composed the music.

The phrase misquoted as “mum lele” in the lyrics is actually “ghum lele” which translates roughly as “take sorrow/disappointment/pain”
