Kisi ne apna banaa ke mujhko
Posted on: October 5, 2010
Though I have discussed over three thousands songs in this blog already, there are still a large number of great songs that are yet to be discussed. The long list of readers’ farmaish gives us a good indication of just how many great songs are yet to be covered. There are so many great songs still to be discussed, but there is only so much time in a day, that one can devote to their discussion.
Here is a song from “Patita” (1953) which I thought I had already discussed, but I was wrong. I had discussed four songs from this movie in the past, but I had forgotten about this song. Well, in fact I was not even aware that this song was from this movie.
Now that I have realised about this song not yet posted thanks to a recent farmaish by Sid, here is this song.
This song is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Usha Kiran. Shailendra is the lyricist and Shankar Jaikishan composed the music.
What a singing, what picturisation. And they do not write such lyrics and compose such music now a days. Such music is timeless.
What a gem !
song-Kisi ne apna banaa ke mujhko (Patita) (1953) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Shailendra, MD-Shankar Jaikishan
Lyrics
kisi ne apnaa banaa ke mujhko
muskuraanaa sikhaa diyaa
andhere ghar mein kisi ne hans ke
chiraag jaise jalaa diyaa
kisi ne apnaa banaa ke mujhko
muskuraanaa sikhaa diyaa
sharam ke maare main kuchh na boli
sharam ke maare main kuchh na boli
nazar ne pardaa giraa diyaa
magar wo sab kuchh samajh gaye hain
ke dil bhi maine ganwaa diyaa
kisi ne apnaa banaa ke mujhko
muskuraanaa sikhaa diyaa
na pyaar dekhaa na pyaar jaanaa
na pyaar dekhaa na pyaar jaanaa
suni thin lekin kahaaniyaan
suni thin lekin kahaaniyaan
jo khwaab raaton mein bhi na aayaa
wo mujhko din mein dikhaa diayaa
kisi ne apnaa banaa ke mujhko
muskuraanaa sikhaa diyaa
wo rang bharte hain zindagi mein
wo rang bharte hain zindagi mein
badal rahaa hai meraa jahaan
koi sitaare lutaa rahaa thaa
kisi ne daaman bichhaa diyaa
kisi ne apnaa banaa ke mujhko
muskuraanaa sikhaa diyaa
andhere ghar mein kisi ne hans ke
chiraag jaise jalaa diyaa

Another lovely song by Lata, one which is sure to lift anyone’s spirits. I have found myself humming this song sometimes, when I am out in the garden with my flowers. The music is so spellbinding and the lyrics are so full of happiness it makes you want to twirl and dance with joy! I also love the happiness shining out of Usha Kiran’s face!
Thanks for the gem, Atul!

Shailendra must have been in best of his form when he wrote this song.
Supereb explanation of feelings as per the situation.
“Sharam ke mare main kuch na boli
nazar ne parda gira diya”
to quote one example of his this song’s beautiful wording.

“Andhe Jahan Ke Andhe Raste, Jayen to jayen kahan” is already posted. And, I think it was “Talat”, not “Manna Dey”.
