Ban jaao Hindustaani

When India became independent in 1947, the nationalistic fervour among the newly independant Indians was naturally at its peak. People wanted to forge their own identity and one of the battle cries that was frequently heard those days was to give up wearing Western clothings and wear native clothings. Dressing up western style, applying make up etc was regarded as western and was mocked.
Hindi movies too reflected this fact in a few of their songs created those year. I have already discussed the iconic song Aana meri jaan meri jaan sunday ke sunday (Shehnaayi)(1947) in this blog.
Here is another song of the same genre. This song, and for that matter, the entire movie was on the topic of nation building, which was a hot topic for the Indian leaders as well as movie makers those days.
Here is this song, which is a stage song, where peope are exhorted to be Indians and behave like Indians (read dress and behave like native Indians instead of apeing the goras).
This song is picturised on Suraiyya and others, with the audience consisting of Madan Puri etc. There are several singers in this song. Suraiyya is obviously the main singer, but there is one more female singer, which sounds like Meena Kapoor to me. There is a male singer too, but I am unable to identify that voice. I request my knowledgeable readers to help identify him.
Prem Dhawan is the lyricist. Though Anil Biswas was the music director of other songs of this movie, Shyam Babu Pathak is credited as the music director of this song. I have no information about the circumstances that led to there being two music directors in this movie. I request my knowledgeable readers to throw light on this matter.

Atul ji,
Music composition for this movie is shared between Anil Biswas and Shyam Babu Pathak. Of the 10 songs listed for this movie, 6 are composed by Anil da and 4 by Shyam Babu.
On searching the filmography for Shyam Babu, one comes across a list of about 10 to 12 movies for which Shyam Babu has composed the music. On one of online references (at geetadutt.com) Shyam Babu is also listed as a singer for two songs.
No luck in confirming names of playback singers for this song. HMV label only carries ‘Suraiya, Others’ for this song. I viewed the original movie on VCD. Interestingly, the credits do not include names of playback singers at all; maybe an oversight or slight damage to the film reel used to created the video.
I would like to suggest that the second female voice is Geeta Roy, since she has sung other songs in this movie. The male voice could be Vinod, but I cannot confirm it.
I would like to suggest one correction in the last antara.
The line
ham tumko na chhodenge
should read
ham inko na chhodenge
‘inko’ here refers to the ‘git-pit’ and fashion.
