In this blog, I normally discuss songs from several artists unless it is a special occasion. On special occasions, depending on the nature of the occasion, songs may be from one genre or from one artist. Today (8 march) is a special occasion. It was on this day in 1921 that Sahir Ludhianvi was born.
Sahir Ludhianvi had a long and successful innings in Hindi movies as a lyricist. The quality of his lyrics is something that sets him apart from his peers. Whenever I come to know that a song is penned by Sahir, i know instictively that this song will be something special. And I rarely find myself disappointed.
After I began this blog a little over two years ago, I have discussed over 3600 songs in this blog. These days I have begun to take count of these songs too, and my records show that I have discussed as many as 217 songs penned by sahir Ludhianvi. Over 200 high quality Sahir songs ! It is quite a good number of songs in this blog.
When I was informed by Raja that today (8th march) is Sahir Ludhianvi’s birthday, I decided to discuss Sahir Ludhianvi’s songs on this occasion. Today this is the sixth Sahir Ludhianvi song that I am discussing. After that two songs will be discussed by Raja, and this is this blog’s humble attempt to pay tribute to Sahir Ludhianvi.
Here is this final offering from me on this occasion. This song is a rare song (at least to me) which I heard for the first time just a few hours ago. This song is sung by Rafi and I guess that this song is picturised on Pradeep Kumar. This song is from “Bahu Begam” (1967). sahir Ludhianvi is the lyricist and music is composed by Roshan. It is a forgotten gem that needs to be brought to the notice of music lovers.

What an absolutely lovely song!
I saw this movie ages ago and I must admit I remember only the two best-known songs (“hum intezaar karenge” (both versions) and “duniya karey sawaal”) off the top of my head.
But this is SUCH a pleasure to listen to. I think I need to watch this movie again! 🙂
