Baithha bairi banke sainyya

“Wo Din Yaad Karo” is a movie that was released in 1971. Though I was very much around in 1971 , I have absolutely no recollection of this movie. Obviously this movie had flopped big time. At that time, when Rajesh Khanna was ruling the roost, who was going to watch a movie starring Sanjay Khan and Nanda? No one really.
In fact, even the songs of this movie stood no chance, considering that 1971 was the year dominated by R D Burman as a music director and Kishore Kumar as the male playback singer.
Nevertheless, the music of this song, on their own were not bad. They could have done much better had they been released at some other era.
Here is a duet from this movie. This duet is sung by Rafi and Suman Kalyanpur. I am not familiar with the names of the actors on whom this song is picturised though their faces appear familiar. I request my knowledgeable readers to help identify them.
Anand Bakshi is the lyricist and music is composed by Laxmikant Pyarelal. And I must admit that the Laxmikant Pyarelal’s music in this song is reminiscent of his music given in a few other songs of that era.
I have provided the video link (incomplete) as well as the audio link (complete) of this song. Here is this song that had failed to get popular during its days under stiff competition from other more popular songs of those days.

Lyrics
baithha bairi banke sainyya
bedardi banke sainyya
baithha bairi banke sainyya
bedardi banke sainyya
na chhode mera aanchal
na chhode meri bainyya
baithha bairi banke sainyya
bedardi banke sainyya
baitthi bairan banke gori
gori resham ki dori
baitthi bairan banke gori
gori resham ki dori
zaalim ne chain bhi lootaa
nindiya bhi kar li chori
ho baitthi bairan banke gori
gori resham ki dori
ho baithha bairi banke sainyya
bedardi banke sainyya
aankhon se ishaara kare
mukh se na bole
ho rama
mukh se na bole
rama
mukh se na bole
baalam kyaa bechaara kare
ghoonghat na khole
ho rama
ghoonghat na khole
batiyaan teri na maanoon
chaahe pad jaaye painyya
baithha bairi banke sainyya
bedardi banke sainyya
ho baitthi bairan banke gori
gori resham ki dori
ankhiyan milaaye kaise sharmeeli naari
ho rama sharmeeli naari
rama sharmeeli naari
laage hai tere to jee mein koi chingaari
ho rama koi chingaari
is aag mein jal jaaun main
kyaa ye marzi hai tori
baitthi bairan banke gori
gori resham ki dori
ho baithha bairi banke sainyya
bedardi banke sainyya
baithha bairi banke sainyya
bedardi banke sainyya
baithha bairi banke sainyya
bedardi banke sainyya
na chhode mera aanchal
na chhode meri bainyya
ho baithha bairi banke sainyya
bedardi banke sainyya
ho baitthi bairan banke gori
gori resham ki dori
baitthi bairan banke gori
gori resham ki dori
zaalim ne chain bhi lootaa
nindiya bhi kar li chori
baitthi bairan banke gori
gori resham ki dori
ho baithha bairi banke sainyya
bedardi banke sainyya
meri har kahaani rani
tere liye hai
ho rani
tere liye hai
rani
tere liye hai
meri zindagaani raja
tere liye hai
ho raja
tere liye hai
tu deepak main patanga
tu chanda main chakori
baitthi bairan banke gori
gori resham ki dori
ho baithha bairi banke sainyya
bedardi banke sainyya
na chhode mera aanchal
na chhode meri bainyya
baithha bairi banke sainyya

Dear Mr. Atul,
Your collection is a treasure of joy. My love for music is limited to audio. I am seldom bothered about picturisation, actors who lip-synced etc. whereas you are a history-writer of hindi film music. I request you to share the link of another song from this movie (Woh Din Yaad Karo): Maine Chaand Dekha Hain sung by Great Rafi Saab. I believe people will love that as well.
With great regards to your efforts……. Tirthankar

The female dancer is Jayshree T. but I don’t recognize the male one (he resembles Feroz Khan to me, although it isn’t Feroz :)…

I too thought the female dancer resembled Jayshree T but then I was not sure.
