“Dil Ne Pukaaraa”(1967) is a movie few people know about. That is not surprising, seeing that this movie had Shashi Kapoor, Sanjay Khan and Rajshree in lead roles. 🙂
I have discussed three songs from this movie in the past. Here is another song from this movie. This song is sung by Lata and it is lip synced by Rajshree on the screen. Sanjay Khan is also visible in the picturisation.
Prem Warbartani is the lyricist and music is composed by Kalyanji Anandji.

Song-Khaayi thhi qasam ik raat sanam (Dil Ne Pukaaraa) (1967) Singer-Lata, Lyrics-Prem Warbartani, MD-Kalyanji Anandji
Lyrics
aa aa aa aa
aa aa aa
khaayi thhi qasam ik raat sanam
toone bhi kisi ke hone ki,
hone ki
ab roz wahin se aati hai
aawaaz kisi ke rone ki,
rone ki
khaayi thhi qasam
aa aa aa
aa aa aa
aa aa aa
aa aa aa
aati hai teri jab yaad mujhe
bechain bahaaren hoti hain
aati hai teri jab yaad mujhe
bechain bahaaren hoti hain
meri hi tarah is mausam mein
ghanghor ghataayen roti hain
kahti hai fizaa ro mil ke zaraa
ye raat hai mil ke rone ki,
rone ki
khaayi thhi qasam
maangi thhi duaa milne ki magar
kuchh dard milaa kuchh tanhaayi
maangi thhi duaa milne ki magar
kuchh dard milaa kuchh tanhaayi
tu paas hi rah kar paas nahin
roti hai milan ki shehnaayi
hasrat hi rahi is dil ke haseen
armaanon ke poore hone ki,
hone ki
khaayi thhi qasam ik raat sanam
toone bhi kisi ke hone ki,
hone ki
ab roz wahin se aati hai
aawaaz kisi ke rone ki,
rone ki
khaayi thhi qasam
Ha ha. I know you don’t have a particularly high opinion of Sanjay Khan and Shashi but why do you drag Rajshree into it? She was gorgeous IMO. 🙂
Anyway, I have heard of this movie. In fact I’ve seen it twice. Once as a young boy and once in 1986 when it was played on Doordarshan (remember the Sunday evening movies?).
It’s a nice enough song but you know a lot of these songs sound the same. Really, I could predict the tune the whole way through and I’ve probably never heard the song before.
Yes, Raja, Rajshree is very pretty in a south Indian way (though she is Maharastrian).
This blog discusses Bollywood songs of yesteryears. Every song has a brief description, followed by a video link, and complete lyrics of the song. This is a labour of love, where “new” songs are added every day, and that has been the case for over SEVENTEEN years. This blog has more than 19700 song posts by now. This blog is active and online for over 6000 days since its beginning on 19 July 2008.
