“Shaarda” (1942) is a movie that was produced by A R Kardar. This movie had actors like Arun Kumar Ahuja, Shyam Kumar, Badriprasad, Baburao Sansare, Nirmala Devi, Amir Bano, Mehtab etc.
I just came across a song from this movie and I was bowled over by it. What a wonderful song it is !
Only the audio of this song is available. This song is sung by Nirmala Devi, who I believe is the same as the mother of actor Govinda.
From the lyrics, this song appears to be a bhajan, which is sung superbly by Nirmala Devi. D N Madhok is the lyricist. Music is composed by Naushad. Since the name of Nirmala Devi appears in the starcast, so one can assume that the song is picturised on her as well.

NAUSHAD was a good friend of Madhok and Madhok took him to Kardar,in his initial struggling days,for work.By that time Kardar had already heard about naushad and he appointed him for Rs.500/-p.m. with a concession that he can even take outside work.Actually,from that time on Naushad’s luck changed and he got films after films.After Rattan he was charging 25000/- per film and from 1949,he charged 1 lakh rupees per film.Inspite of all this he continued to work for kardar on 500/-p.m. till 1952,when Kardar freed him totally.Naushad did this out of gratitude towards Kardar.
Nirmala Devi,who was Nazeema,a Muslim, before Marriage to Arunkumar Ahuja(Govinda’s father) after they fell in love while working in Savera,got converted to Hinduism and took the name of Nirmala Devi.She was a very good Bhajan singer.

Thanks for all these useful information. Naushad showing his gratitude towards Kardar after all those years when he had himself become a big star- it is so nice of Naushad. How I wish that there were more such people in the industry.
When were Arun Kumar Ahuja and Nirmala Devi marrried ?
