In olden days, if you heard a song and liked it, then the only way you came to know about the details of that song was if that song became popular. In case one heard a song that failed to take off in the popularity stakes, then there was no way to find out the details of that song. And the feeling of desperation to find out the details of that song is something that many of us have experienced.
Prakashchandra, the regular contrtibutor of lyrics to this song has also been in this situation. He once heard a song, which he liked a lot. But that song failed to get popular and Prakashchandra, who loved the lilting tune of this song tried desp[erately to find out about the details of this song. In the era of internet and YT, it has become far easier, still her had to wait till a few months ago, when the audio and video of this song finally became available.
Here is this lovely song from “Dil aur Muhabbat” (1968), which failed to get popular though the song is extremely hummable. The song is sung by Mahendra Kapoor and it is picturised on Johny Walker and Sheela. Verma Malik is the lyricist and music is composed by O P Nayyar.
This is a song that I heard for the first time only just now, and I loved listenng to this song.
