Bade khoobsoorat bade wo haseen hain
Posted on: December 3, 2011
I was unable to discuss any songs whatsoever in the last few days. As a result, I have fallen short of the usual daily targets that I have set for the blog. From today onwards, things will hopefully limp back to normal.
Here is a song from “Jashn” (1955). This movie was a Hindustan Art production. It was directed by S Shamsuddin and the star cast included names like Karan Dewan, Vyjyanti Mala, Pran, Agha, Kuldip Kaur, Randhir, Johnny Walker, Murad etc.
Here is an obscure song from this obscure movie. It is a duet which is sung by Rafi and Lata. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Roshan.
Only the audio of this song is available, so guessing the actors on whom this song is picturised is difficult. Of course that does not prevent me from guessing that this song is picturised on Karan Dewan and Vyjyantimala. I may be wrong though. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw more light on this topic.

Lyrics(Provided by nahm)
bade khoobsoorat
bade woh haseen hain
magar kya karoon ke
woh mere nahin hain
woh mere nahin hain
bade khoobsoorat
bade woh haseen hain
magar kya karoon ke
woh mere nahin hain
woh mere nahin hain
churaa ke na jaane chhupaaya kahaan hai
churaa ke na jaane chhupaaya kahaan hai
pataa mere dil ka woh detey nahin hain
magar kya karoon ke
woh mere nahin hain
woh mere nahin hain
shikaayat bhi karte hain
kis saadgi se
kis saadgi se
shikaayat bhi karte hain
kis saadgi se
kis saadgi se
bahut bhole bhaale
bahut naazneen hain
magar kya karoon ke
woh mere nahin hain
woh mere nahin hain
bade khoobsoorat
bade woh haseen hain
magar kya karoon ke
woh mere nahin hain
woh mere nahin hain
yeh sab unki aankhon ki
hai meherbaani
hai meherbaani
yeh sab unki aankhon ki
hai meherbaani
hai meherbaani
nahin to ham aise
kahaan ke haseen hain
magar kya karoon ke
woh mere nahin hain
woh mere nahin hain
bade khoobsoorat
bade woh haseen hain
magar kya karoon ke
woh mere nahin hain
woh mere nahin hain

Atul ji,
JASHAN-1955 was an entertainng film but its story was used in so many films, that audience could guess correctly what will happen next, and thus the element of interest and curiosity was killed.
Seema(V.Mala) was the daughter of seth Dharam das who had left enormous wealth for his only daughter.Having grown in luxury,Seema was self centred, arrogant, swolen headed having superiority complex. Her friend Bimla(Manju Dewan-wife of Karan Dewan and sister of actor/singer Balakram) was a middle class simple girl, who tried to change Seema, but to no avail.
In one party,Bimla throws a challenge to Seema to earn Rs.1000 on her own efforts and merit in one year.Seema accepts the challenge, becoming Malati-looking for jobs and living elsewhere in one single room.As she does not know anything, she can not do any job well.
Atlast she uses her dancing skill and joins Roshan Theatre as a Dancer/actress.She meets Karan(K.Dewan) who is a struggling actor and falls in his love. The owner of Roshan Theatre, seth Roshan lal (Pran),who is after her, troubles her.Karan leaves theatre.Malati also leaves her job in search of Karan and realises the value and dignity of labour.
She changes herself, gets Karan as a reward and all is well in the end.

Arunji,
Bahar (1951) had same cast as Jashan – V.Mala, Karan Dewan & Pran. I haven’t watched that movie, but just have this information. Let me know if I am wrong.

Khyati ji,
you are right.
BAHHAR-1951 was an AVM film directed by M.V.Raman,with excellent music by S.D.Burman.
This was a comedy film and the FIRST film of V,Mala in Hindi. This film was rereleased in 1956 as a colour film.
The songs from this film, sung by Shamshad begum,Kishore kumar,Talat and Geeta were so melodious that till today they are favoutites of Hindi music lovers.
The cast indeed was having V.Mala,Karan Dewan,Pran and many others.
