“Senapati” (1961) is a movie I know nothing about. This extremely obscure movie was a Mohla films production. It was directed by Kedar Kapoor. Starcast of the movie included names like Prithviraj Kapoor, Nalini Jaiwant, Amarnath, Tiwari, Durga Khote, K. N. Singh, Veena etc.
The songs of this movie are just as obscure as the movie itself. Here is a song from this movie. It is sung by Asha Bhonsle and Lata. Rajinder Krishan is the lyricist. Music is composed by Madan Mohan. Yes, this forgotten gem was a composition of Madan Mohan, who was very appropriately nicknamed as “shaapit Gandharv” (cursed musician of the gods) by a Hindi poet.
Only the audio of this song is available, and so it is difficult to tell how and on whom this song was picturised. I request our knowledgeable readers to throw morte light on the picturisation of this as well as on this movie.

Atul ji,
SENAPATI-1961,was a Mohla Film production of Mr.G.J.Mohla,who originally was an ordinary share broker.When he struck gold in business,he jumped into film production where ,very enthusistically he used to write story,Screenplay and dialogues himself.Luckily,he did not dabble in direction or song writing or acting.His only other film was Ehsan-1954.
400 hundred years ago,Maharaja Ripu Daman Singh died young in Shilagarh(a kingdom between Rajasthan and Saurashtra),leaving a 4 yr. old Yuvraj in the custody of his trusted sardar Vijay Singh,and also a young wife-Rajmata.Vijay singh,being brave,honest and faithful did not marry due to the responsibility of Yuvraj.However,the evil Mahamanri spread rumours about him and the Rajmata.Vijay singh decides to marry Bala-daughter of King Bhilraj and after marriage,leaves Shilagarh.He knows that death hovered over Yuvraj,so he takes him away,but is separated from Bela.meanwhile Bela gives birth to a daughter.
Vijay singh trains Yuvraj for 20 yrs. and then Yuvraj attacks Shilagarh,kills Mahamantri,marries d/o Vujay singh and reunites with the Rajmata.
It was a very childish story,with evrything about it most average,hence it soon went in the cans once again.
No one knows what happened to G.J.Mohla after this film.

Thanks for this rare to find information. It is unfortunate that people like Madan Mohan should suffer because of the mediocrity of such movies.
