“Ek Saal” (1957) was a Goel Cine Corporation movie. It was directed by Devendra Goel. Star cast of the movie included Ashok Kumar, Madhubala, Johny Walker, Minoo Mumtaz, etc.

This song is sung by Lata and it is picturised on Madhubala. Prem Dhawan is the lyricist and music is composed by Ravi.

Atul ji,
Thanks for the synopsis and the rejuvenation of memories. This is one of the films I saw as a child on Doordarshan, and was verily impressed with the storyline and performances. Reading the synopsis from you, the memories are pleasantly stirred once again.

Just to add to the above discussion, Sab kuchh luta ke hosh me aye to kya kiya by Talat Mahmood is picturised on the alter ego of Ashok Kumar while the real Ashok Kumar, by now remorseful, watches his image in the mirror singing the song. Though this song is posted on this site, this detail was missing, and the video link has been removed by the YouTube, therefore I am giving its link below.

EK SAAL-1957 was a Goel cine corp. film,produced and directed by Devendra Goel.This Goel is the same person who gave the first break to Music Director Ravi in his film VACHAN and then onwards Ravi used to be his fav MD.This film is in the initial stages of Ravi and had wonderful songs in it.Already many songs have been posted here earlier too.
Suresh(Ashok kumar) is an educated young man,who,with his glib talking cheats and fleeces the rich and earns money.he has an astt. Rajani,who remains behind the scenes and helps him.One day he meets Col.Sinha,a rich retired person.With his sweet talk,Suresh becomes his Estate Mananger.Suresh also pretends to love his only daughter Usha,in order to get info on the Col.’s wealth.usha ofcourse in his real love.one day she faints and that time the col. informs Suresh that she has Brain Tumour and can live only for EK SAAL.Suresh starts taking her good care and takes her to many doctors.now he really falls in her love.Usha is operated upon,the tumour is removed and she becomes alright.
Rajni,who is now jealous of her,meets Usha and reveals that Suresh is a cheat and only pretends to love her.learning that Rajni has spilled the beans,Suresh leaves the house and goes away.
Usha now realises that she is in his real love and is confident that he too really loves her.She starts searching for him,locates him and brings him back.
suresh decides to reform himself with help from the Col.and all is well that ends well.
The story of this film was written by I.S.Johar.MD Ravi had also written one song for this film.The other lyricist was Prem Dhawan.The s/play and dialogues were by S.K.Prabhakar.
